Frump in a rut

I used to be a skinny size 10 and as I’ve aged I’m now a 12-14, tall tidy but short legs. Pasty white and I feel fat and frumpy. Live in black village neck T-shirts and skinny jeans. Crew neck tops make me feel even bigger. Limited budget as also a single mum working full time! Help anyone??
😊

There is a frumpy thread on the go already. Good tips on there.

I'm a single mum too, so getting ready time is always a constraint so what I did was have my colours done, takes a lot of the pain out of shopping because then most of the stuff you buy will work together.

Do you have a budget at all or just looking for tips?

I know this sounds silly but no one can advise you what to wear, it's what you feel comfortable in, regardless of whether it's frumpy or not. I absolutely hate wearing jeans, and they look awful on me so anyone telling me to wear jeans isn't going to be helpful. I'd go somewhere with lots of choice and try as much stuff as possible to see what suits your body shape and what you feel comfortable in. Even if you don't buy from there it will help you narrow down. Maybe even go John Lewis and use their personal shopper, again like I said just to try stuff on. Looking leas frumpy also involves nice hair and nice nails and nice shoes I think, so factor that in.

We need more info. What are your colouring, shape, taste in clothes, lifestyle like?

Twisted structured joggers can look good check out Suzy D their vegan leather joggers look fab if you have a little weight and are comfortable dressing them up with wedges or down with trainers. Great alternative to skinny jeans.

I have 3 pairs. They are cool so buy some white ones for summer?

I also have their cotton joggers. Good but not as flattering as the pleather ones.

5'4 dark hair, pasty white skin, long body, short legs. Size 12-14. I tend to be fairly casual, I WFH so rarely need anything smart but feel I just look dull and boring all the time.

These are great, wear with t shirt and denim jacket/trainers.

I have these also nice and light/silky good for dressing down with flip flops/trainers or up with wedges, again t shirts/denim jacket

But honestly book an appointment with John Lewis if you have one near, it's free and they can help work out a style etc but having your colours done really helps.
