Midi dress with fitted top half and fitted sleeves

Does such a thing exist? I have been googling for weeks and have come up blank.

I'm essentially looking for a long dress with a natural waist and a top half that doesn't billow. I've seen lots of sleeveless dresses like this but none with sleeves.

Any help is gratefully received. 😍

I recommend Zara dress

furst thing I have ever bought from Zara! If only it came in natural fabrics and more colours 😍

Have you tried The pretty dress company? They have lots of lovey dresses with fitted sleeves

Sswhinesthebest · 12/06/2022 11:52

Ah you didn’t say you wanted a more formal tailored dress. Do you want short or long sleeves?

BigHuff · 12/06/2022 11:55

Yes, I've looked at hobbs! They do well on the fitted sleeve aspect but I don't love any of the prints. I know I'm too fussy and am going to have to compromise, though.

Thanks all for your recommendations 😘and sorry for being so fussy!

I think probably the thing to do will be to buy a dress and alter the sleeves. Or sew my own. 😅

Would you consider a nice long sleeve fitted top with a skirt to give the same shape?

kikiterrific · 12/06/2022 12:33

What's the occasion?

Popsy has quite a few that may fit the bill. I like this one...

Yes, this is a good idea!

A 50's style dress, I just googled
britishretro.co.uk
and have seen other websites selling similar

I should have been bookmarking them, because now that I've gone back to find references I can't find anything close to what I mean. 😓

Something like this but with fitted sleeves:
www.sezane.com/en/product/nissa-dress/pink#size-6

Or something like this but without the £700 price tag:
eponinelondon.com/collections/ready-to-wear-ss22-dresses/products/la-luna-flower-shower?variant=42532710154462

It's the waist and sleeves that I am after - I don't really care what the bottom half looks like at all.

I suspect a dress like this won't exist because of the expense/impracticality of mass-producing a well fitted bodice and sleeves.

I would try Emily and Finn for that. They have a hundred that shape without sleeves and the odd one of a very similar shape with sleeves. You might find something suitable.

And I'd say the same thing about Palava too, although I don't like their prints myself

White Stuff?

Hairybaker · 12/06/2022 14:23

Someone mentioned this company already but from your description this is exactly the type of dress you mean? Available in lots of colours www.theprettydresscompany.com/clothing-c1/dresses-c2/the-pretty-dress-company-leyla-midi-dress-p452#attribute%5B1%5D=43

Finery have quite a few tea dress styles, which I think would fit the bill.

Thank you!! Sorry for the belated response, somehow I have only just seen your reply.

I've never heard of Emily and Fin and wouldn't have without this thread - the dresses are gorgeous (I love the palava dresses too, but agree about the prints - a bit too twee/childish for me). No sleeves, but one is SO gorgeous that I think I'm going to go for it and try to find a top to go under/over it.

Thanks again!!
