What jacket do you wear when….

…it’s fairly cold, might rain but it’s mid summer and you’re going out for the evening?

I’ve recently moved to Scotland and stumped.

Back in London, in summer, even if the weather wasn’t great an blazer/denim jacket/biker would work for a summer evening at a bar/restaurant etc. Here it’s not quite warm enough! Was really cold this eve with a faux leather jacket on wandering around.

I’ve got thicker jackets and coats, but they feel too wintry to wear with summery clothes IYSWIM. My winter coats are eg black puffer/dark parka.

Maybe I just need a thicker jacket but in a lighter/brighter colour?

Plenty of people wear sporty/hiking sort of gear, and I get that you usually just take the jacket off when you arrive, but I’d like to get something reasonably stylish! Help!

If I could find a puffer that didn’t look too sporty that might work! I just hate having a nice outfit on and then chucking essentially what looks like a hiking jacket over the top 😅

I was going to say leather biker jacket, is it really too cold for that? If so, I think I’d try extra layers underneath rather than on top. Even in Scotland long sleeves with a vest underneath must be ok, surely?

Could you just wear a cardigan underneath the jacket? That's what I do.

Find a cashmere cardi, secondhand. Layer and warm.

I'd wear a leather jacket or utility one and then wrap massive scarf around me.

Thanks @LoobyDop Layers might work! It’s averaging around 8/9/10 degrees in the evenings so it’s quite cold IMO!

@AgathaBrazen @Floydthebarber I like the idea of a really lovely cardi on top of a ‘going out’ top and with a jacket on top. It wouldn’t spoil the overall outfit. @mewkins a great scarf would work too, thank you!

@Milknosugarta I really like the Nanushka faux leather puffers, but no cropped ones in stock at the mo - am also tempted by this one from Noize but there are a few on ASOS/Zara!

Is this too sporty or casual for you? This is my ‘summer’ evening coat😳I’m always freezing so I need something more than a cardi or denim jacket.

What about a thin sheep skin jacket? If you go for a beige, grey or even brown one I think it could look summery. Black I think is wintery.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to offend anyone! This is the sort of jacket I see around a lot @SmurfysLaw but I was looking for something more evening-y, that would go with a smarter/more dressy outfit.

@FirstTimeMother88 I don’t think a denim jacket is warm enough but maybe I could look for one with a Borg/faux sheepskin lining. @ZigZagZen think a faux sheepskin or thinner aviator style biker could work, agree a lighter colour looks more summery, thanks ☺️

I have this Colmar jacket. I bought it a few years ago but I think you’ll be able to get a similar style now.

😁Don’t apologise I’m not offended. I know it’s ridiculous but I’m just ALWAYS so cold. Today I was out in a jumper while everyone around me wore shorts or strappy dresses. I’m waiting for Friday, it’s meant to be over 31 degrees.....bliss 😎My dream is to move to a desert where I can spend my days baking in the heat.

To be fair I only use the jacket outside. If I know I’m going to be cold in a fancy restaurant or bar I layer with a cropped cardigan and leather jacket or blazer.
Someone beat me to it but I was also going to mention sheepskin lined.
