Last year I had a Marks T shirt with sort of lacy short cap sleeves. It's still fine this year and I'm still wearing it cos I really like it.

Today in Sainsbury's I noticed one I thought similar in a different colour so I bought it. Now I'm home I can see it's identical. I can't remember what I paid in Marks last year but this was £14.

Who knew they had the same suppliers!

I think a lot of shops have the same suppliers. I’ve seen kids Boden socks in John Lewis, and Next crop tops in Boden.

When Tesco first started selling clothes -the Cherokee brand-they were made by the factory that also made clothes for next. I remember that being a big thing because Next were decent quality at that time.

I saw a video recently on of a clothes buyer in a Jean factory. He picked up jeans that were being made for Primark then jeans that were being made for a high end designer brand in the same factory and made comments that they were exactly the same. I’d assume the cut/fabric quality would be slightly different but he made a big thing about ‘if you buy jeans in Primark you’re basically wearing Armani (or whatever it was) jeans’. Who knew?

it’s similar to how the food manufacturers that make meals for Tesco finest will be making them for Aldi too I suppose.

As you said , maybe the same factory, but definitely different fabric (better) and much better cut.

I live near a factory shop and get John Lewis, Boden, Monsoon, Fatfacs and M&S all from there.

My MIL saw an identical jacket in Sainsburys to one in Jaeger, she worked there at the time. The Sainsburys one was £28! I imagine the Jaeger one was £150+

There is pretty much one clotted cream supplier to the whole UK. M&S, Asda, Waitrose, Tesco clotted cream. All the same, but different packaging, different prices and weirdly different sale by dates!
