Vitamin C

I usually use vichy vitamin c ampuoles every 3-4 months but just went to order some more and they have been recalled. Does anyone know a good alternative vitamin c? I was thinking of using it every night.

It depends on how much you want to spend. The Skinceuticals CE Ferulic serum is amazing but really expensive, as is the Obagi one.

Geek and Glow Vitamin C serum has been recommended on here and is cheap. What you are looking for is L-Ascorbic Acid, as this is the most effective form of vitamin c.

I would recommend using it in the morning before sunscreen, as it increases the efficacy of your sunscreen.

Oh I did not know that thank you! I've been using it at night as I thought it wasn't safe to use in the sun.

Revolution do a Vitamin C and Ferulic serum for £12. First time using it today so I can’t report on how good it is long term, but it was a good texture and has beef fine under SPF and makeup. It is ascorbic acid the vitamin C is at 12.5%.

They also do higher percentages, but without the ferulic. Also £12.

Hi OP, you can use it at night if that suits your skincare routine. Many of the vitamin c serums say to use it in morning or evening so I don't think it's a bad thing. As long as you use proper sun protection you should be fine.

It's retinoids that aren't good to use during the day as they are degraded by sunlight to the point that they don't really work. They are best used at night.

I use Timeless c +e + ferulic acid. Its a dupe for the very expensive skinceuticals one.

PAFMO · 11/06/2022 20:23

I've tried:
The Ordinary- blearghhhhh
Timeless- not bad, but it's a big bottle and it oxidises before you finish it, even using it every morning.
La Roche Posay- only product of theirs I didn't like. Gloopy slime.
Garden of Wisdom- strange oil texture.
Vichy LiftActiv- holy grail. Watery texture, can see a difference immediately. Am on about my 6th bottle.

This is not available in the UK or the EU anymore sadly.

Ahh I use the vichy ampuoles but there's a recalI so can't get them i didn't realise they did it in a bottle too! Saves all the risky glass breaking!

@CoconutAmericano hopefully you've been lucky but a lot of the people who previously used Timeless found that Amazon were either selling copies or if it was the real product, it was pretty old and oxidised quickly.

I'd second Geek and Gorgeous C Glow. I've been using this since Timeless stopped being sold in the UK. You can buy a mini empty bottle to decant a few days worth into and leave the main bottle in the fridge.

Not sure if I'm replying correctly still lol. The one i bought does look like the real deal ie batch numbers, manufactured date (29th march), correct price etc not very fresh but not oxidised either and I'm keeping it refrigerated, but I’ll certainly bear that brand in mind. It’s slightly less vit c but the ingredients looks very good. And great price too!
