Where to buy classy work clothes?

I need a new work wardrobe and want to invest in some really lovely pieces. Happy to splash the cash but I've not found anything decent on the high street

Where should I look?

Hobbs, L K Bennett, Jaegar at M&S?

Sithee · 09/06/2022 07:29

The Fold?

Neolara · 09/06/2022 07:30

Albgo · 09/06/2022 07:30

MumNBass · 09/06/2022 07:31

Reiss

bumpetybumpbump · 09/06/2022 07:32

Cos, Me&Em, Baujken

Brunonono · 09/06/2022 07:37

I'd second The Fold, not that I can afford to spend that on work clothes. When I was watching the split on TV and admiring the really lovely work outfits, a few things I looked up were from there. Reiss would be another place to look.

DH was recently in a similar situation and signed up to Stitch Fix. He was pleasantly surprised. You could them- there is no compulsion to keep anything they select you.

CMOTDibbler · 09/06/2022 07:44

The Fold, I have a few pieces from them and they make me feel so exec. I also like Reiss, and Winser London

I like to wear suit dresses for work and this year has been very tough. I have had to move up budget wise because of the lack of options. Akris had a couple of good options.

Hugo Boss seems to have forgotten women work because they had zero available despite showing a collection where there were some good options. Apparently next season we should see more from them.

Kate spade had a couple of items. I finally ventured into St John territory and got a nice shift dress with 2 different tweed jackets. It’s not Chanel but it’s also not Chanel prices, although not exactly affordable either.

I got a lot with MM LaFleur and do recommend them for office wear. It’s not cheap with the exchange rate but it’s been the best this year in the US for woman’s workwear. I’m not a fan of Ann Taylor as their suiting is cheap material and always needs an additional $100-150 in alterations.

I am waiting for next season and pray for better times because this past season was just dire.

Anne Fontaine for shirts. I always buy in the sales!

PAFMO · 15/06/2022 06:04

Hobbs, Jaeger, Jigsaw, Cos, some Boden. (I recently bought the collared and cuffed jersey tops in every colour way as they are brilliant for wearing under jackets)
Also I scour the John Lewis website.
Agree too about eBay for brands. Have 2 Jigsaw linen dresses that were about a tenner each.

Wakemeup17 · 15/06/2022 12:54

All of the above except for Cefinn which is overpriced polyester.
FOLD is really, really formal though.
