Mulberry Lily

I have been hankering over a medium Lily for a long time and almost ready to take the plunge. Before I buy, looking for any similar ish bag recommendations. Would be prepared to spend up to £1000 on said bag. I did previously think I’d go for one of the Gucci Marmont range but I’ve suddenly gone off them (yes I know they are more expensive than stated budget!)

Beware, I have one in oak and hate it!
it manages to be both too big and too small! As well as being disproportionately heavy.
When I bought it it was a toss up between the LV neverfull - though I know many mumsnettera loathe them, or the Gucci disco bag. I’d have had so much wear out of either or those, unlike the Lily that just sits unloved at the bottom of my wardrobe!

I guess my point is go somewhere that you can try LOTS and LOTS of different bags before you commit. My recommendation is actually Harrods. I find the staff there very helpful and endlessly patient!

I think you should go in store to check the lily out. It's very nice but it does lose it's shape quiet quickly and it doesn't look as nice after. I would go for a more structured bag, but that's just me. Better to go in store to check. I prefer the darley.

Agreed, mine lost its shape and started to curl at the corners too so beware

My absolute favourite bag is my Chloe Marcie Mini . It looks small but easily fits my phone, a few bits of make up, hand cream/sanitiser plus there’s space left. I’ve had mine for 7 years, use it at least 3 times a week year round and it’s still in great shape. I have mine in pale grey and I’m saving up for a tan one now. It’s pretty much doubled in price over the past 7 years which is very sad.

I have a regular Lily in taupe and silver and it’s been great. It has kept its shape but I do store it with a little pillow inside it.

It has been so useful for smartening up an outfit and taken to weddings, Henley, dinners out, graduations etc. The colour means it goes with everything.

I nearly bought a Lily earlier this year and then decided it wouldn't be able to fulfil all the bag-needs I had at the time. So instead I bought:

An APC Genève black cross body bag in embossed leather as a day-to-day bag

A Strathberry baguette in taupe and cream as a smart bag for weddings and events

I am really happy with them both but the Strathberry in particular is fabulous. The quality is superb. I'm definitely going to get more from them.

I ended up spending about £700 I think so cheaper than a Lily! I think Mulberry is very overpriced these days.

I agree re pricing. I bought my Lily secondhand about four years ago for £400. It was in mint condition. Wouldn’t pay the full price.
