Cocochoco Gold Keratin Hair Treatment

I'm thinking about using Cocochoco Gold keratin treatment for my frizzy hair. Has anyone used it? Any information I've seen has been from the company itself rather than independent reviews. I've read a few stories about people using various keratin treatments where they've experienced hair loss afterwards which has worried me a bit!

I haven't used this brand, but I used other one for years and everything was fine. Didn't experience hair loss, but you have to keep it away from your scalp though.

Jellyshoeshurtmyfeet · 08/06/2022 14:32

That's good to know. Can I ask what brand you used and would you recommend?

For years I've been using Encanto do Brazil, which you can buy on ebay (3 white bottles). It's really great, keeps my hair smooth and straight for a very long time. It smells horribly though, you need to keep windows open while blow drying/straightening your hair. I also use face mask.
The other one is Inoar- used it twice and didn't like it. They offer shampoo and straightening treatment. Their conditioner is just like normal conditioner that you rinse off your hair completely. With Encanto, you put conditioner on, then rinse off 50% of the product, have to blow dry your hair and then straighten them. With Inoar, you miss this step, therefore results weren't long lasting plus hair were less smooth than with Encanto. They claim there is less formaldehyde in Inoar products, but for me it smelled the same.

Thanks, that's really helpful. It's taken me a few years to get my hair into a semi decent condition and I don't want to risk doing it any damage!

No issues with it. I used the keratin kits one (now rebranded) but when it wasn't available I used this. Happy with the results of both

babyboyHarrison · 08/06/2022 22:57

This is what the keratin kits has been rebranded as. It's had recommendations on Mumsnet before.

I had their hair botox done recently. My hair is straight so I didn't want to go for the keratin one. The hair botox has been brilliant for me. I can wash hair, leave it air dry and it looks like it was blow dried.

Waterdropsdown · 12/06/2022 20:13

I’ve used this, it works. Have you done the keratin process on yourself before. I have done it a few times and it’s hard work! I got a mobile hairdresser to do my last one but I’m struggling to book him again. Dreading the process of me doing it!

JamieFrasersBigSwingingKilt · 12/06/2022 20:40

Yes I've used this brand twice. Excellent results for my thick, frizzy hair, while keeping some of the body too. It always looks good and drying it is so much faster now. I'd recommend it. It cost me £160 ( for my bra-strap length hair) but I've spotted another salon nearby that does it for £120 so that's where I'll go next. I live in the south east. I wash my hair about once a week and it lasted about 4 months. Well worth it to me.

Sorry to jump on and ask but does it work on balyaged hair? And how does it affect baker appointments eg can I get my hair dyed with it, do I use it before or after a balayage?

Chesneyhawkes1 · 12/06/2022 21:01

I used to use this. Was good. No issues at all. My Mum used it as well after she saw my hair.

Only reason I stopped using it was because I had all my hair cut off

My hair is highlighted and it's fine to use. Just ensure there's a gap of at least 2 weeks between the keratin and the colour, with the keratin first. Double check for balayage though.

declutteringmymind · 13/06/2022 12:36

Thank you. I will probably leave it until after my next balayage.

Butterflyball · 13/06/2022 12:46

I am a hairdresser and use this brand. Lots of positive results and happy clients, go for it!

Letsrunabath · 13/06/2022 19:03

I’ve used this brand a few times, really like it. You can buy decanted bottles off eBay, you will get shampoo , conditioner and keratin treatment. I’ve shoulder length hair the shampoo and conditioner last about 6 washes and there is enough Keratin for 2 treatments, cost about £24.00z

GillyGumbo · 13/06/2022 19:07

I have this brand, I have shoulder length dark, colour-treated hair - I've applied it 3 times so far and still have plenty left in the bottle I got from Amazon!

It's pretty good, no issues for me. The gold dust in it is bloody annoying though.

@declutteringmymind I have airtouch balayage on my hair. They say use it 2 weeks before or after your hair appointment. I'd rather use it before, so then you can have dry ends trimmed. No change in colour or condition of hair whatsoever.

HappyGoDucky · 14/06/2022 15:01

I use this brand and prefer the original version. Follow the instructions and it works very well. Never had breakages. Tip- use 8n a well ventilated room, windows open.

Hey Jellyshoeshurtmyfeet,

I work for Cocochoco and saw your post and wanted to answer your questions.

Gold Keratin is really good for medium thickness hair, and taming frizz. No Cocochoco treatments cause hair loss. But we do recommend that if your getting the treatment done, that you find a certified salon to do it. That way you'll know that they're using the right type of keratin for your hair, and that they are applying it properly.

If you want to check out more about what's in the product, how to apply it etc, here's a link for Cocochoco Gold :)

If you want to find a certified Salon to do the treatment, then here's a link to our Salon locator. :)
