Summer Smart dress code

We have been invited to a wedding where the dress code is Summer Smart. Not something I’ve come across before - from Googling it we understand it’s smart and weddingy but with a concession to warm weather. I have a lovely dress and DH will wear a light suit but I’m less sure about accessories. I have a fascinator that coordinates with my dress but would that be too formal? And should DH be wearing a tie or not? Any advice would be helpful.

Headbands these days for hair. Fascinators are not smart. You can get wonderful headbands with all sorts of embellishments. Alternatively a hat like Zara Philips wore with her pink ensemble recently. You can always remove a hat for the reception. But smart, to my mind. Is a hat or headband.

Thanks for your advice. In view of what you’ve said I think maybe what I’m calling a fascinator is actually a hat (was called fascinator in the shop but is hat shaped and similar size to the one of Zara’s you reference). Anyway thanks very much, I will have a look at headbands too
