Repiercing belly button

gottaloveascamhun · 05/06/2022 12:18

In my 20s I had a belly bar but took it out when pregnant. Can I get it repierced, obviously at a proper place not just doing it myself? Has anyone done this?

Has it definitely healed? I put a ring back in mine after years, I used a very slender ring to navigate it, it was actually an warring to start with, used some live and just worked it through gently, it's fine.

Ooh that's worth a try thanks!

@Hohofortherobbers live? Typo?

Omg I've just got an earring through it! Never would have thought it was still a hole! Thanks so much

2 typos! Used an earring to start as it was slimmer, used LUBE to get it through

gottaloveascamhun · 05/06/2022 13:00

Ah I thought you meant lube. I don't even have a belly bar anymore but have ordered one on prime 😀

I'd been wondering about the same. I took mine out around 28 years ago. I'd been going to contact a local piercing place to see what they suggested.

I thought mine would have healed by now. I don't know if I dare try to unblock it.

Please let us know how you get on, OP

artlass · 05/06/2022 13:01

Oh, I should read the whole thread!

How long was it since you took it out? I mistakenly thought you'd said 20 years in your OP. @gottaloveascamhun

gottaloveascamhun · 05/06/2022 16:55

I think 12 years since I had a bar in it

I've just had a go too and done mine with an earring. 14 years since I had anything in!

artlass · 05/06/2022 21:04

I'm tempted to have a try now! It would save a trip to the piercing studio, though I don't know what they'd have suggested or done.

Did you use any sort of lubricant @raffegiraffe I don't have any lube!

artlass · 05/06/2022 21:06

Though I had mine in for only around a year before I took it out - over 20 years ago. I've always thought the holes looked messy, then recently thought I'd like it back. I don't have my midriff exposed, so nobody will see it, I just thought I'd like it back.

raffegiraffe · 05/06/2022 21:29

Yep I had some KY haha.
Think you could use savlon.. or Vaseline?

Hohofortherobbers · 05/06/2022 22:30

Mine had been out for 10+ years. When you replace the earring with a naval ring get one which is really slender and go slow and lubricate, I definitely traumatised mine when I replaced the earring with the naval ring, took a week or so of salt washes to settle back down but then it was OK

artlass · 05/06/2022 22:43

Thanks @raffegiraffe

I had the Vaseline and tried with an earring but lost my nerve. It appears to be blocked at one end and I don't want to force it, it has been over 20 years!

I'm not sure what the piercing person will do or whether they can repierce it.

StarlightLady · 06/06/2022 11:38

I've had my naval pierced twice. On both occasions the body rejected it, so, sadly, I've had to give up on it as a lost cause. I would like to have my nipples pierced but, in part due to my previous piercing experience, that is not going to happen.

So, it's just my ears.

JamMakingWannaBe · 06/06/2022 23:43

I got mine re-done at a professional piercing place when DD was 6mo. Couldn't have done it myself!

BaronessBomburst · 06/06/2022 23:48

I had my belly button pierced three times before I gave up. It healed up every time, including growing a long tube of skin around the ring. Now I've just got a scar. 😭

artlass · 07/06/2022 00:30

My old piercing holes are very sore where I tried to insert the earring (carefully). I'll get it done properly, though I think I remember it was quite painful. I hope my threshold is higher now!

artlass · 07/06/2022 00:31

Slightly sore not very!

DinoWoman · 07/06/2022 09:25

I took mine out during my pregnancy and it was fine. It was a bit uncomfortable when I put the bar through the first time though.
