FatFace

Last year I bought a fair bit from Fatface but this year it seems awful, really frumpy, badly cut and overpriced. Who is Fatface aimed at and how do you feel about it as a brand? I think like white stuff I need to stop shopping there!

I find the muted, sludgy colours they do just don't suit me. I am a jewel winter, and they never seem to have anything brighter in.

I have this problem too. I like the clothes for the fabrics (some), but the muted and sludgy colours just don't suit me.

Their blues are usually ok on me, that's all though.

Their stuff is ok - some is lovely quality and other bits less so. Have had a few pairs of PJ bottoms and trousers from there over the years but no daytime clothes that I wear currently. The colours are always very samey and I don't feel they cut for my shape very well. Things seem roomy in the boobs and waist area but often a little less so in the hips. I feel like FF cuts for apple shapes, which I'm not.

I've had a lot from FF over the years, but agree that the current range is pretty awful.
Too many fussy prints and horrible 60s/70s throwback hippy type styles. I also think the quality is really poor for the price these days. I bought some of their chinos last summer and they split down the seam the first time I wore them. They replaced them and the same thing happened again! I also bought a longline checked shirt recently which I was very pleased with, until I washed it. It's now a dull, bobbly rag that I wouldn't wear out of the house. Their knitwear all seems to be nasty acrylic stuff now too, whereas I'm sure it used to be nicer quality.

I frequent the FF sale to stock up on their cotton tops. I particularly love the long sleeve ones as they're warm enough on their own in the winter. The knitwear isn't as good as it used to be - I've got a knitted cable hoody that I've had for over 10 years that's still going strong. I keep looking for a replacement for when it eventually dies/gets lost but nothing comes close.

Amusingly, I like them because the muted colours suit me and are often what I want. I do like proper jewel colours, but I find that most other high street stores when doing the lighter colours seem to get them wrong and they just look a little "off". This is especially true for basic t-shirts.

I like their stuff, it's always good quality and the materials are nice. Their clothes are comfortable and casual. But it is horrendously overpriced so I only buy in the sales or from Vinted/Ebay. Sizing is on the large side, I've found myself having to size down a lot.

I'm early 30s and I have a lot of things from FatFace especially smart causal dresses. And I live in their 3/4 length trousers in the summer.

However, I live in a place where shops are limited and it's either Next which are also hit & miss, fat face, new look - too young or M&S apart from underwear too old . I'm an awkward age where fat face is my default if I want to try things on.

Also the clothes fit my awkward shape

I would say Fatface could never be classed as particularly stylish. In some lights you could sort of see a thin, blonde lady drinking hot chocolate in a cottage in their muted tones and shapeless knits, or dancing on a beach in Cornwall maybe with some equally blonde and beautiful kids. But I don't think most of their stuff is doing anyone irl any favours. A lot of their clothes are ill fitting and in my mind are not actually that good for stomachs and busts, the fabrics are too thin and the cuts unstructured. The little prints seem too young for the actual crowd who might wear their clothes. The colours only really suit Summers and they look faded before you've even washed them. I think the odd basic item from there can work but not if aspiring to be chic.

I really like their mens jumpers for my other half, and I've gotten some nice bright summer t shirts for my son this year.

I bought this top from there last year and its one of my favourite weekend lazing about tops www.very.co.uk/fatface-tabitha-confetti-ditsy-top-green/1600545703.prd

It's definitely hit or miss but I think they do a few key things well.
