Hi all. I’m going to the theatre this Saturday and have realised that I have absolutely no idea what to wear. Please can someone help? I’m going to the matinee with my young daughter. I’m 40, a bit overweight, have totally lost my way. It’s been so long since I’ve been to a big city, I just don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb

Honestly you'll stick out like a sore thumb if you dress up, just wear whatever you'd wear normally on a weekend, go for comfort as you'll be sitting (no tight waistbands etc)

Just wear whatever you'd usually wear during the day. No one dresses up for the theatre. Enjoy your day Smile

Thank you both I’m definitely an over thinker

@Littleelffriend

I always just wear (smart) jeans. You don't have to dress up at all especially for a matinee.

What are you going to see?

I go to the theatre a lot in London, and most people are in jeans and a nice top.As am I:)

jeans and trainers is usually all I wear to the theatre and I go all the time as live in London. honestly it’s a very causal city these days - people don’t dress up so much

Jeans and a nice top, or a casual dress. It's nice to dress up a bit, but in the sense of wearing 'good' trainers rather than mucky ones, or a dress and trainers rather than a hoodie and jeans.

Thanks all I’m going to the lion king in Edinburgh
