The L'Occitane Shea Butter one is amazing

Cerave repair hand cream is very good.

O'Keefe's Working Hands is fab.

I second O’Keeffe’s. It’s worked miracles with my hands. Not the most attractive packaging, but I’m never without it these days.

I find that gently using an exfoliating mitt in the shower helps too. Then apply hand cream regularly. I like Vaseline Intensive Care hand cream.

MadAngryCry · 31/05/2022 11:06

O'Keeffe's didn't work for me - presumably down to skin type as so many people swear by it, so definitely still worth a go if you haven't tried it.

What worked for me in the end was the blue Aveeno - was like a miracle!

hotstove · 31/05/2022 11:06

I've tried everything over the years. I always use hand cream as I get dry skin around the nails and occasional splitting and breaking.

I recently had Vaseline recommended to me. I use it just before bed and it's honestly been miraculous, a game changer as they say. After a week my dry skin had gone and my nails have recovered!

Neutrogena

hotstove · 31/05/2022 11:07

That's plain old Vaseline and not one of their creams or hand creams.

DivorcedAndDelighted · 31/05/2022 11:48

Exfoliate by rubbing with olive oil and granulated sugar, then wipe off eg on kitchen roll.
Use Garnier intensive hand repair cream, which you can buy for £2 - £3 in most pharmacies or supermarkets.
I used to spend ££ on fancy products but nothing works like this. DP gets solvents etc on his hands so they get very cracked, and he uses this now too.

Blue Aveeno lotion works for me

BusySittingDown · 31/05/2022 12:06

Body Shop Hemp hand cream is great.

My hands are terrible, they crack and bleed. Have done for years. Slathering Vaseline on before bed and leaving it overnight works wonders.

tigertummy · 31/05/2022 12:13

Aveeno Baby soothing relief - the dark blue lid one - has absolutely changed my life!!

CoffeeWithCheese · 31/05/2022 12:21

Blue Aveeno here too - I've had itching scaly hands since the covid jabs and it's hell - it's one of the few things that has calmed it down ever so slightly. The only other thing that's really worked, but feels icky as hell as it's an ointment (I've got sensory issues) so I don' use it much is Aldi's PawPaw Ointment in a red tube.

Nivea smooth hands and nail care (blue tube) is great. Had it as part of a stocking filler at Christmas and have bought it again as really sorted out my lizard hands. I'd previously had some Clarins hand cream which was lovely, but tbh the Nivea does just as good a job for a fraction of the price
