...but still need shoes that are okay to go out in the rain with (not wellies, just normal day to day shoes) - what kinds of shoes would be fashionable to wear??

Help please!

Dr martens, chunky loafers, crocs even….! (The crocs without holes in them)!

TheFlis12345 · 31/05/2022 08:58

I often wear flat boots in the rain, I have a pair of Chelsea boots and a pair of more western style. They keep my feet nice and dry.

WouldBeGood · 31/05/2022 08:58

Boots, docs or ankle boots. I have a nice pair of Cat ones that have a heel but are waterproof

daisyjgrey · 31/05/2022 09:02

You hate ALL trainers? That's a bit like saying you hate ALL music 🧐

stickygotstuck · 31/05/2022 09:05

Flat leather boots are my go to the in the rain.
I have a pair of 'summer' ones from Kickers - no thick lining, natural rubber soles (non slip), great seal, side zip for ease of use.

BiscoffSundae · 31/05/2022 09:31

I hate all trainers I never wear them at all, don’t own any. Boots would be best For the rain.

Floisme · 31/05/2022 09:40

I dislike trainers too. Yes all of them. In the rain I mostly wear flat lace up ankle boots.

Amelion · 31/05/2022 10:14

Like PPs I just wear ankle boots usually.

I have a dog though and walk everywhere so if it’s really bad I wear short waterproof boots, places like Hunter and Stutterheim do nice ones:

Ah thank you - flat leather boots without lining sounds ideal! Will look for those.

I know... I just really haven't found a single pair yet that I liked. I've tried as I know they're fashionable now but I just can't bring myself to like the look. I guess I like something more elegant/pretty/less chunky.

Perhaps take a look at Artist or similar?

Thanks to all who suggested brands of boots - I've looked at Hunter, Kickers, Ariat etc - but these are all still so chunky! I dislike chunky. Also boots don't quite work in the summer. Does anyone know of any boots that are very thin and elegant, but still closed enough to withstand, say, light ish rain?

Have you looked for more vintage insipred shoes, they tend to be more delicate/less clumpy

I think the difficulty is chunky is what’s in fashion at the moment so that’s what a lot of the options are.

But I’m sure if you just googled or went on whatever shop you usually buy shoes from, and look for boots in whatever colour you like you’d still have plenty of options.

e.g go on ASOS and look for boots in brown/neutral (which I think might be easier to style with more summery clothes than say black) and you’ll get over 200 options.

Look on shoeaholics

lalaley · 31/05/2022 18:31

Ah- I think now I've found the kind of Kickers shoes you meant! Thank you that was a good tip!

Looking at shoeaholics now too

I hate trainers too OP, both the look and the feel of them, with the exception of Bensimon-style pumps, which I buy from here:
www.naturalworldeco-shop.com/pt/mulher/sabrinas-mulher.html

I like leather boots in the Winter - usually Chelseas or Docs (well, Solovair), or flat-heeled knee-highs.

In Spring / Autumn I wear loafers, derbies or cotton pumps. In Summer, sandals and espadrilles.

Slip on derbies or loafers might be a good style for you, OP.
