Any hair experts on here? Hair dye question!

I am gradually growing out my grey hair. My hair was - and is still on most parts - very dark brown.

My hair is probably about 30% whiteish grey. But I hate the outgrown look right on the front of my head (my whole front hairline is grey).

I was having a particularly low self esteem day on Tuesday and I put a root touch up my hairline only. Now my hair looks uneven and I regret it as now I’ll have to start from scratch again!

I want to go to the hairdresser and get lighter highlights at the front to make the grey roots less obvious (I’ve saved some pictures of grey/ brown balayage and light streaks at the front etc), but after putting root touch up on the front of my head, is getting light or even grey highlights possible now on top of dye? Is it easy?

Help! I’m not really someone who goes to the hairdresser much. I box dyed my grey hair.

I always had “good” and “easy” hair and now my hair is making me miserable!

How long ago did you dye your hair and was it semi perm or permanent?

I did the nice n easy route touch up on Tuesday! I’m actually not sure if it’s permanent or semi…

Here’s a before I did it:

It really doesn’t look bad now, just looks like you naturally have more grey at the back. A good hairdresser will still be able to run light colour through your hair. You’ll just need to tel them the front is box dyed so they know this will need more lift.

Thank you! okay that’s very helpful to know!

i just looked up what I used:
www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/special-offers-279846-44/nice-n-easy-root-touch-up-dark-brown-4

it says the “permanent colour will last about three weeks”. I’m wondering if that’s because you’ll grow it out in 3 weeks or the colour will fade?

Is a look like this possible with half dyed hair? Do you think it’d blend in greys that are predominantly at the front of my hair line? I don’t know what sort of thing to try to make this process look nicer for myself!
