Testogel sachets

Each 5g sachet has to last me 10 days. I've been told to use a pea size amount every day. Has anyone worked out an accurate method to do this? Is it possible to decant sachet content in a pump container/syringe??

I use these and don't do it too scientifically to be honest (despite the fact I'm a hospital pharmacist and like to be scientific). I put a pea size blob on every second day then use one of those plastic bag clip things from IKEA to close the sachet. My sachets last about a week (this is what I read, not 10 days). Used this method for years and it's fine.

imstilljenny2 · 30/05/2022 09:25

Just reread your post and I don't think the sachet will last ten days if you're putting a pea size blob on every day. I think you'll run out before then.

TheDogsMother · 30/05/2022 09:37

My GP said to use one sachet per week all in one go. It feels like a huge amount this way and takes ages to dry. I wonder if I should just be using a little per day instead.

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 30/05/2022 09:38

My prescription definitely says use 10th of a sachet daily, and the sachet has 5G. It's a really unhelpful dispending method with a lot of guess work!!

i also don't do it too scientifically and just put a little pea sized bit on my thigh. I just put in a repeat prescription when I'm getting low and have never been questioned. If you get it privately they give you a different type with a mini-syringe.

wantmorenow · 30/05/2022 09:45

Hi OP, my GP said same - 1 sachet per 10 days. She explained it's only licensed for men's use currently in UK so there are no lady doses 😠IYSWIM

How's it going for you - starting mine today and nervous I may be moody.

imstilljenny2 · 30/05/2022 09:52

@TheDogsMother I definitely wouldn't use it all in one go. You'll be filled with rage for one day then flat for the next 9 days 😂

TheDogsMother · 30/05/2022 09:57

@imstilljenny2 I did wonder if I'd be starting fights Grin My prescription is one sachet per week so I'll try a little per day instead.

wantmorenow · 30/05/2022 11:06

Wondering if I may lose the remaining fucks I have to give.

My tolerance of being taken for granted by my kids is already at an all time low.

TheOGCCL · 30/05/2022 12:18

Not sure this is the right board but my two most visited are this and the menopause one 😀

If you can I would try to get Testim next time instead as it comes in a 5mg tube which you can re-cap. I do think mine lasts about 10 days, but there's no need to worry if a dose is slightly more or less as it evens out and the key is just small, constant dosing.

I think when you start off you are obviously a bit trepidatious with all this talk of hair and deep voices, but you don't have to get an exact dose every day.

SpindleSheWrote · 30/05/2022 12:22

May I please ask, where are you getting it from? I reckon I need it, like yesterday.

(My GP is already beyond useless on absolutely everything to do with female health. (And she is female.))

imstilljenny2 · 30/05/2022 12:40

@SpindleSheWrote I get mine from my GP without any problem. I asked for it years ago for low libido and she referred me to the local menopause clinic. The consultant there started it and my GP prescribes it every month.
Have you specifically asked your GP for it for low libido? And if so what reason has she given you for not prescribing it?
You could go private I suppose but seems unfair to pay when you should get it free with the nhs.

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 30/05/2022 12:45

Got it from GP also
I can't say I've noticed anything yet, I only started 5 days ago

Thank you, that's very helpful.

Long story short I have given up on my GP. Fortunately my surgery has recently signed up with Push Doctor and, after much wrangling with surgery admin and tech, I have an appointment in a couple of days to talk about thyroid issues.

If that goes reasonably well I'll hopefully be able to book a separate appointment to talk about my menopause (surgical) and HRT. I'll make sure I stress the low libido, thanks.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 30/05/2022 20:07

I tried decanting it into a syringe but that was worse. Have taken the rough guess route although I stick a little post it note on it with the start date so I can see how I'm doing. My last blood test showed that I was probably overdosing so I'm now trying to go down to less than a pea sized blob a day which isn't easy. Definitely an art not science.

@TheDogsMother it should be 1/10 sachet a day, not the whole lot in one go!

I found it made a difference very quickly, dh and I very satisfied Grin. I am definitely a bit more arsey too but that's fine by me!

SynchroSwimmer · 30/05/2022 20:14

If it helps anyone….
In Turkey - you can self purchase Testogel at the pharmacy

In Spain or Greece you can’t.

Will report back next week on Croatia!

I’m using a half-baked bean size dollop. Also had no luck trying it in a syringe.

TheDogsMother · 30/05/2022 20:53

@LadyGardenersQuestionTime I just checked the prescribing note on the side of the pack and it's definitely one sachet once per week and when I last spoke to the GP he reiterated this but what you say makes much more sense. More continuous supply and easier to rub in. My GP has been great offering this before being asked but I think knowledge about it seems a bit inconsistent. I guess it's because it isn't licensed for women yet.

wantmorenow · 31/05/2022 06:50

My GP prescribed it after a phone consultation at my suggestion, no hesitation. I'm in Wales if that's relevant. Free prescriptions here too. Vey lucky.
