What size are you in Zara?

After advice on Zara sizing please. I'm eyeing up a dress and put my details into the Zara size calculator & it says medium.
I'm usually a 14 on top due to big boobs & a 12/14 on the bottom. I can fit into a 12 as long as it's not tight on the bust but I tend to size up to a 14 generally.

I've read before that Zara come up small?
I would go to the store and try it on but no stock where I live!

I'd say large or whatever the biggest they do it. I have picked up a pair of Zara trousers size medium in the charity shop and I'm a size 12 and they are nowhere near close to doing up.

AnyFucker · 29/05/2022 21:01

I am a size 10/12 usually and a size large in Zara

Do not be fooled, they run massively small in most things and stupidly huge in others. I recommend visiting the store, not ordering online

Yissie · 29/05/2022 21:02

I went to Zara last week and I ended up buying a blouse in size S, a corset top in size L, a pair of trousers in an S and a skirt in a M. I’m an 8. I got so angry about things not fitting me and I had to go back and forth with different sizes to try on so many times. It’s so item dependent, annoyingly.

SparkyBlue · 29/05/2022 21:02

I find Zara very small fitting. Even the children's clothes are tiny. I'd go with large if I were you

orangeisthenewpuce · 29/05/2022 21:03

I bought a pair of size 16 jeans there without trying them on because that was my size. I couldn't get them past my knees.

Shakeitshakeitbaby · 29/05/2022 21:03

I have never fitted into any tops in Zara, even when I was skinny. Broad shoulders and large chest but was only a 12-14 top in most shops. I was a size 8 bottoms and could get into medium trousers at a push.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 29/05/2022 21:06

I’m a similar size to you. I’d be an XL in a jacket, but could be a small or medium in a loose dress. It’s very random and they do come up small.

Yes and they now charge for online returns.

Agree with this.
I used to be an XXL in Zara tops. I am a busty 14 in the real world.
I ordered 3 L work shirts recently and me, DD and dp could all have fitted inside one.
It all seems totally random.
For context:
I'm a 14/Medium top in M&S, Boden, Seasalt, Cos, etc
I'm a 12 long trouser and have never yet managed to get into a pair of Zara ones.

DontSitUnderTheAppleTree · 29/05/2022 21:10

Zara is crazy size wise. I’m a size 10 on bottom and 8 on top. For skinny trousers I’d buy a medium or a large. However, I’ve also got some loose dresses in a size XS, which are still generous. As others have said either order a few sizes or try on in store!

HamCob · 29/05/2022 21:28

Oh bugger! 😩
Back to drawing board then! None in stock near me and don't fancy ordering online if returns are a palaver! Glad I asked...thanks all x

Per PP I have pretty much every size from Zara - I’m a 10/12 in real life. However I would say that the fit finder thing has been VERY accurate for me, and it is linked to the actual item so you might be eg M for a dress and eg XL in jeans based on your exact same measurements.

We do have a store here but I am not sure if you can return to the shop free. Paid returns would make me unlikely to take a punt!

anon2022anon · 30/05/2022 07:19

@Judystilldreamsofhorses you can return to store free.

@HamCob their sizes are meant to relate to:
XS 6
S 8
M 10
L 12
XL 14
However so many items come up smaller or oversized. Its very rare I've known the trousers fit the size they said on the label, I would always size up 1. In general, they do not cater for hips, bum or chest- they base their clothes on a 5 ft 10 ish androgynous shape woman.

Worked there for 7 years, still couldn't just order something and expect it to fit now.

LaBellina · 30/05/2022 07:23

Size 8 or 10 depending on the brand or shop and I usually fit a Zara size M.

User487216 · 30/05/2022 07:29

I'm 5'10" size 14 fairly small chested, not that slim round the middle and average hips and size large,

User487216 · 30/05/2022 07:41

It looks like it's free returns to store so if you have one locally that you wouldn't have to go out of your way to I would buy a medium and large and see which one is the best fit

Soupercat · 30/05/2022 08:50

The returns are only £1.95 btw

dontgobaconmyheart · 30/05/2022 09:56

I'm a size 6-8 (more towards the 8), 5ft 6 and haven't had an issue with the sizing in the sense I find it fairly predictable.

Tailored trousers I fit an XS, jeans I often size up to S, any tight fitting tops or dresses with no give I go for a S to accommodate the bust and if it's obviously supposed to be a loose or oversized fit (jackets, blazers, shirts) I stick to my normal size.

I'd go for a size L OP, depending what it is that's being ordered.

hoorayandupsherises · 30/05/2022 10:33

40plusnotgivingup is a 14 and tries on lots of stuff in Zara and the sizes do seem to vary a lot!

Zazdar · 30/05/2022 10:37

I was in there on Saturday. XS in most things I tried on. S in others, mainly tops.

Boood · 30/05/2022 16:28

The other thing about Zara is that they very often make things with absolutely no stretch or give in them- so you often find that a top that looks as though it fits when you’re standing still will not allow you to move your arms. It’s one of the reasons I think they’re massively overrated.

beautyrookie · 30/05/2022 16:32

I find Zara sizing generally runs smaller but, as with a lot of retailers, it's quite inconsistent.

I'm a size 6, but have found that the XS skirts fit fine, but the XS dresses are way too small. I think the dresses come up much smaller than the skirts. The tops are a little tighter as well so I tend to go for an S, despite being quite small in the chest area.

I'd probably go for size L if I were you, or buy a few sizes to try on, particularly if you live near a store so you don't have to pay for returns.

BabarEnFamille · 30/05/2022 17:21

I agree the size calculator is really accurate - I’m generally a large in Zara but it sometimes comes up with a medium or even small for me in over sized styles and it ends up fitting as I’d want it to

HamCob · 31/05/2022 11:35

Ok so I ordered the large & it just arrived... It fits!!! Hurrah! (Ignore my son's messy floor in the pic!)
Thanks all 🙏🏻
