Products for heat and humidity

I live somewhere where it’s hot and fairly humid from now to September. Every year I struggle with frizzing hair, a red face and sweating. The biggest issue is my face looking like an oil slick. I don’t wear heavy makeup but I like wearing spf and tinted moisturiser, and after an hour it’s sliding off my face even with powder.

I should have cracked this by now but every year I struggle. My local friends always look good but no-one has any life-changing tips, they just seem to have skin and hair that’s more suited to the climate.

Can anyone recommend any products (hair, face, amazing anti-perspirants)? I’ve been looking at setting sprays, primers, powders, different spfs etc but there’s so much choice. I have sensitive dehydrated skin and easily blocked pores.

For your hair you need either a kerastraight treatment or the wow dream coat spray. Both life changing for us frizzy haired people!

Frizz Dismiss by Redken for your hair.

Can't beat Double Wear , just don't wear loads of it , use it like a concealer and apply with a buffing brush.essential to get colour matched as there's so many shades.

I find Ultrasun is best for not making my face really sweaty. It looks shiny once set but this can be taken away with powder. I don't wear any liquid foundation just a tinted pressed powder. I find it doesn't look cakey if there is no foundation. Any areas with large pores / that might crease can benefit from a bit of blurring cream tapped on. If I need any concealer I use a mineral powder one dabbed on and blotted off with a brush.

This lasts all day, sunscreen included as it's a long lasting one.

hihellohihello · 29/05/2022 09:12

Powder I use is Phoera powder compact, blurring cream is Nanoblur and mineral concealer is Bodylife Beauty.

hihellohihello · 29/05/2022 09:13

Blurring cream after sunscreen before powder.

Thank you for all the ideas!

My hair does NOT like dreamcoat wow, it turned into straw. A cream might work better as I think it’s just very dry and porous. I really rate Redken so will look up that frizz product, thanks.

I have blotting papers but I’m not keen on using them when out and about.

Nanoblur made me breakout, any alternatives?

Doublewear, interesting @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor , I assumed that was thick and heavy.

which ultra sun do you use @hihellohihello ? I actually had a great oil-free facial sunscreen from them a couple of years ago and now I can’t remember which it was.

I wear the Face SPF 30 for sensitive skin.

Soap and Glory do a similar product, called something like instant wrinkle filler.

LeeMiller · 29/05/2022 09:30

Oh that’s interesting @ChiefInspectorParker I have dehydrated skin so I think all my moisturisers have glycerin in, I’ll check.

I carry a fan and wardrobe-wise I’m sorted, I basically wear mostly silk with a bit of cotton and linen which has made a huge difference. It’s mostly my head that’s the problem! Also May has been so hot this year I haven’t had the gradual transition and I’m finding the sweatiness worse than usual.

L'Oréal Steampod to stop the frizz. My hair also hates colour Wow dreamboat.

www.boots.com/yourgoodskin/yourgoodskin-shop-all/yourgoodskin-anti-shine-base-lotion-30-ml-10233377

That stops all shone/oil all day even in heat and is a great primer.

I would love to know if there is a product that deals with sweaty heads. My hair is so thick that it gets sweaty so quickly. How do I stop my head from overheating?!

Dontsayyouloveme · 29/05/2022 17:02

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor which Redken product?

Not if you get the correct colour and apply sparingly with a buffing brush. The new Hydra DW is fantastic too worth getting testers of each and seeing which you prefer. I find Estée Lauder gives out very generous samples.

Dontsayyouloveme · 29/05/2022 22:35

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor Thanks. Is it serum?

Spray your forehead (eyes shut) and the name of your neck with a sensitive anti perspirant?

I think there's a few things in that range but I use a a big tube and it's like a cream you just put on when it's wet. I'll see if I can post a link...

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/05/2022 23:09

www.lookfantastic.com/redken-frizz-dismiss-rebel-tame-treatment-250ml/12052805.html

Shop around as I got mine for £12. It's changed packaging too as it used to be in a beige and gold tube so don't be confused if some places still stock that. Hope it works for you.

LeeMiller · 30/05/2022 06:17

Thanks Chief maybe I’ll look again at LRP. I’m not keen on alcohol in products as they seem to be drying and emphasise all my lines, the same with anything mattifying. My skin needs hydrating but not moisturising I think.

just ordered the frizz dismiss mrspellegrino
