Watery middle aged spots

I never had acne growing up. I’d get the odd spot, sometimes a giant glowing beacon puss but never full on acne.

perimenopause has given me god awful teenage skin. It started on my chin with watery spots that has caused lumpy skin and now I’m seeing them on my nose too. My mum’s nose and chin got huge and lumpy in middle age due to acne and I really want to stop that happening.

before I go to the doctor is there anything I can be doing about it with otc stuff?

I’d just go to the drs tbh.

I never had spots either as a teenager - just the odd period spot but have have them on lower face and upper arms for the past 3 years or so. They come and go several at a time but are better in summer.

I’ve found dabbing a calamine and salicylic acid mix on them with a cotton wool bud before bed helps dry them out and reduce inflammation/redness. Brands are Mario Badescu and the cheaper Revolution. I’ve also changed skincare to using the Ordinary products - hyaluronic acid serum then moisturiser. Plus use a spot cover!

spots tend to happen with fluctuating hormones and you might find yours improve post menopause. Unfortunately I haven’t found that to be the case but then have got away pretty likely regarding general menopause symptoms.
