Period pants question

I have some of these for my 11 year old (Wuka) and they seem to be working well for her. However I've noticed the absorbent layer is becoming quite hard and rigid after washing. Am I doing something wrong? I just wash them on a normal 40 degree cycle.

Do you use fabric softener?

DD rinses hers in cold water after use
I then bung a batch in the machine (along with other dark washing) on 30 with non bio powder. No softener.
Hang to dry on the line if possible.

Modi-bodi in black. She's been using them about 8 months.

No softener but the tumble dryer may have been used. Would that have caused it?

My advise to only use gentle heat. There's a plastic layer and too high heat can affect that apparently.

I think it's the tumble dryer.

Definitely should not be tumble drying them. Or using fabric softener. And they should be rinsed immediately after use. You can wash them later, but you need to get the bulk of the blood out on the spot.

I'm not sure about WUKA ones but I have modibodis and also Love Luna ones. Th love luna ones definitely don't appear to have the staying power. I now keep the modibodis for heavy days and the love luna ones for light days. I also tend to accept they won't last as long so just toss them in with regular washing rather than a delicates cycle (although still don't tumble dry).

Do not tumble them. Line or radiator dry them.

Mine ended up in the dryer by mistake last time...only used them twice, so I'm a bit annoyed that I didn't realise!! I'm hoping I've got away with it, but thanks for the reminders about fabric condition, as I forgot that wouldn't be great for them either.
