Full coverage day to day foundation

Hi looking for any recommendations for a day to day foundation that gives full coverage and matte finish? Love Estée Lauder doublewear but the cost means I can only justify it for going out occasions!

Nothing will beat double wear. I've tried

meatballmarinara · 25/05/2022 22:30

What about mixing double wear with a cheaper foundation for daily use?

Idbemonica1 · 25/05/2022 22:37

Max Factor (the one in the glass bottle) think it is called facefinity, is a good dupe for EL double wear.

Gillybobs · 25/05/2022 22:38

Revlon colorstay is by far the best high Street option. They do 2 versions, one for dry/ normal and one for normal/oily

tigerbear · 25/05/2022 22:41

Why not have a look on Vinted for EL? (People sell new beauty items sealed in their packaging for a lot less than new)
ive just checked, and there’s EL DL on there for £15.

Sqeebling · 26/05/2022 11:00

Once the bottle is open you need to use it up so don't be saving it for special occasions or it'll just go off and you'll waste it anyway.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 26/05/2022 11:28

Phoera foundation, I buy it off Amazon. Cheap as chips, goes on a dream and doesn't budge.

BlueBloodedBlue · 26/05/2022 18:14

What shade of double wear do you use OP?
I've got a brand new, never used one which I can't return as I lost the receipt 🙄

ponyclub1980 · 26/05/2022 20:36

Thanks all for your replies. I wear shade dawn, there isn't one on vinted in that shade that I can see but thanks for the tip.

I've tried phoera but personally didn't think it had great staying power so think it's between revlon colorstay & maxfactor facefinity.

There is this one on there in shade dawn! But in answer to your question - I've not found anything as good as EL so I just use the garnier BB cream during the day now and forgo the heavy coverage!

raffegiraffe · 26/05/2022 22:27

I'm normally a coverstay fan but on a whim tried lasting finish by Rimmel and I'm really impressed. Only £8

Takenoprisoner · 27/05/2022 22:42

I agree with the rimmel lasting finish one. I switched from double wear to rimmel and really like it.

st1cky · 27/05/2022 22:46

Agree with the others re Colorstay for lasting power. It's incredible. If I want a fresher look (but still long lasting) I go for L'Oréal Infallible.

MistressWeatherwax1 · 27/05/2022 23:01

Very surprisingly Revolution IRL foundation esp with their miracle cream underneath. I have doublewear but actually prefer the Revolution one. One pump of it does my full face and I can put it on at 6am for work and it still looks great when I take it off at 8pm. Honestly great.

BlueBloodedBlue · 28/05/2022 09:50

I've got a brand new, unused EL Doublewear in Pale Almond which I can't return as someone (glares at DH) threw away the bag with the receipt.

Happy to send to someone for postage (£3-4?)

PM me if you'd like it.

tigerbear · 28/05/2022 16:16

@BlueBloodedBlue you could sell that on Vinted if it’s in original packaging.

Can I? Even if it's not sealed - the box just closes, iyswim.

tigerbear · 28/05/2022 22:27

@BlueBloodedBlue yes that should be fine. You can even sell stuff on Depop that’s been opened and tested.

PalacePaper · 29/05/2022 08:07

@BlueBloodedBlue if you want a different shade Estée Lauder should exchange it for you (they'll do this even it's been opened and you've used it a couple of times)

I used the matte Revlon Colorstay and then tried double wear and found the coverage and finish of double wear much better. It is expensive but sometimes on offer at John Lewis or Boots - still more expensive than the alternatives but not quite as bad!

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 29/05/2022 08:11

I love ELDW too. I use Rimmel Lasting Finish for every day which is quite good and I get it on Amazon Subscription , the price varies each month from £5.50-7.00. I have hormonal acne. I also have some small tubes of white and different foundation colour camouflage make up. I mix a tiny amount of these up to match my foundation if I need some extra coverage on spots as a concealer. Or when my skin has been really bad I mix the camouflage make up into my normal Rimmel foundation. The camouflage make up is really good and is meant for covering tattoos. Mixed with foundation you only need a teeny bit and it gives a great coverage like the DW foundation.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/05/2022 08:17

Nothing beats Doublewear. Colourstay is pretty good boy not a patch on DW and I think it's a false economy using anything else as DW lasts so long and you don't need to use much.
