I'm going to an evening wedding do at the end of July. This came up on my FB feed (I don't know why, I have never bought anything from Karen Millen).

It's is more than double my budget.

Where can I look for something similar.

I am tall and slim.

Hmm, that's a tricky one as it's quite unique but these two are similar from Frock and Frill, they're around £80:

Thank you! The Silk Fred one is lovely and would suit me (all the others have some issue or other!), but I am not keen on fuchsia.

You've sent me down the rabbit hole on the frock n frill website now OP! They have loads of gorgeous embroidered dresses, all about £100 mark.

How about this? It comes in lots of colours. The KM one is lovely.

mosside · 25/05/2022 16:45

Could you get the one you love and sell it afterwards? It's gorgeous!

Peanutwaffles · 25/05/2022 16:46

Ok how about...

Or...

Another option would be a pleated skirt and separate top?

RandomUsernameHere · 25/05/2022 16:52

You could try looking for that one on EBay or Vinted, you might get lucky

Blossomtoes · 25/05/2022 17:01

The first Asos one’s the nicest.

Hoppinggreen · 25/05/2022 17:08

Is your budget due to affordability or just one you have set?
If it’s the latter get the dress you want, anything else you get will be not the dress you wanted
Of course if you can’t afford the dress without causing hardship then don’t but if it’s just that you don’t feel you can justify it then buy it. Life’s too short

This.

The dress you posted is really nice.

TheOrigRights · 25/05/2022 18:29

You are bad/good (can't decide!). I've ordered it! I got 20% off so that was nice.
I can afford it, it's more that it's way over what I'd normally spend on a dress.

It's a style that suits me well - sleeveless, high neck, no ties or frills.

I shall report back.

Hmmm, I wonder if it's reduced because it's quite long. The model is 5'10".
I'm 5'8" so while it will still be fine, I want it to be midi rather than floor length!

OP posts:
toddlingabout · 25/05/2022 19:53

That's great, glad to hear it. Hope you like the length when it comes, it looks like it should still be midi and have a lovely time at the wedding.

TheOrigRights · 27/05/2022 14:33

It's arrived. I got 2 sizes. Not much difference in them. I thought I'd taken pics of me in both, but I can only see 1 now. The other is slightly more fitted.
It's long but not too long (no full length mirror at home, but I can get DS to take a full length pic later).
Either way, it's lovely.

I want this, but it's above budget.

It’s absolutely gorgeous! You will get many years of use out of too.

DramaAlpaca · 27/05/2022 15:14

Oh it's gorgeous and you look fab in it. That's a great buy.

Hoppinggreen · 27/05/2022 15:48

It’s lovely

toddlingabout · 04/06/2022 19:36

Looks great and glad you like it.

TheOrigRights · 04/06/2022 19:59

Thank you. I got a friend to help me decide which size to get. 13 yo son was no help!
She said the smaller one as the larger bags a little around the bodice.
