What sunscreen to use

I have used a few of the well known ones over the years, for body it's not so bad, it's my face that is the issue. Every facial SPF I have tried is too heavy, and the most recent one, one of the ones by Nivea, brought my whole face out in a red rash/soreness. It reminded me exactly of the mineral powder I used to use years ago when they were the in thing back then, and it had sun protection in it, well that used to bring me out the same way.
I did read a couple of times, there are certain ingredients in sunscreens that can cause allergic reactions etc, so I'm now looking at finding some without the common ingredients that can cause these problems.

So if anyone knows of any good ones, or used brands that are free of some of these ingredients then i would be glad for any feedback.

I have sensitive skin, easily irritated but suffered with acne and spots most of my life, and only now since 30's onwards did things improve, not before time! So hopefully that might help if any suggestions are being made. I always use Fragrance Free products and oil free etc where possible.

I use Gruum's factor 50 face sunscreen and find it light and very effective.

I used this on a recent sun holiday and loved it. No stingy eyes, no reaction on my face at all and of course no sunburn!

Ultra sun on my face

P20 is pretty good. Also calypso dry oil spray is amazing and very cheap. My son has eczema and these are 2 of the few he can use without breaking his skin out.

I'm also allergic to Nivea sunblock. I use Skinny tan spf 50 (tinted) or Hawaiian Tropic the whipped looking lotion. It's very light, sweat proof and smells great.
La Roche Posay is pretty good too. It goes on thick but doesn't remain gloopy.

I have no idea how any of these are with makeup as I don't ever wear it in the day (or night really 😂) .

Apologies, Hawaiian Tropic is not for you if you don't like any fragrance. I have very sensitive skin and find it absolutely fine though. I've some notion they have a sensitive one too.

I’m using Clinique facial sunscreen factor 30, which is the only sunscreen I have ever been able to use on my face without getting burning eyes, spots or a rash.

cannot stress enough the garnier suncream for face spf 50. absolutely brilliant stuff will never use anything else again.

Lastminpanic · 25/05/2022 18:29

I have tried loads from super expensive to supermarket as I live in a hot sunny climate. This is the best I have found www.garnier.co.uk/our-brands/sun-protection-and-self-tan/ambre-solaire/products/super-uv/face-fluid-spf50-40ml

Heliocare 360 oil-free gel spf 50

More a lotion than a gel, good for oily skin

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 25/05/2022 18:54

I always recommend LRP’s Invisible fluid in SPF50

TwinklingFairyLights · 25/05/2022 19:07

La Roche Posay for me too.

BendyBusBuggy · 25/05/2022 19:11

Thank you farmer do a suncream that feels more like moisturiser. I break out in spots from all other suncreams except this one. It's got quite a strong smell though (floral)
