Best bras

I need some help finding some decent bras.

Up until now been using M&S for everyday t-shirt bra types but all the ones I have bought recently have washed really poorly leading to a kind of lip at the top where the padding has become mishapen and nothing I do will get it back into shape. The lip is really noticable - like you can see it through my clothes.

Anyone have any recomendations - i’m not very busty but want something for everyday wear!

The M and S Sumptuous Soft is fabulous. Soooo comfortable. Thoroughly recommend.

john lewis - i have loads that are about 4 years old and they still hold me up....which is a miracle in itself. I got fitted by this lovely lady as i was wearing totally the wrong size

I know Ann summers have a rep for shit quality and 'bed room' style.... but their lacy balcony bra is honestly the best everyday bra I've ever worn.

I'd spent years searching for something comfortable that contained everything and washed well. I first bought it on offer and was so dubious but they're SO good.

JanisMoplin · 24/05/2022 15:53

I know exactly what you mean by lip. Happened to my M and S bras too. I was a fan for years but now need to look elsewhere. I am not busty either and don't want to spend a huge sum.

Newusernames · 24/05/2022 21:26

It’s so frustrating! Particularly as it only happens once washed so you can’t return even though they are useless!

Thanks all. Going to order the Freya one then visit John Lewis and Ann Summers to have a try on!

Another vote for Ann summers. I'm 42F and their £15 bras are the comfiest I have ever worn - sexy lace planet they are called.

I've found Sainsbury's are surprisingly good for bras. Wide range of sizes, well fitting and comfy.

Fizbosshoes · 24/05/2022 21:42

I had the same with my M and S tshirt bras. I bought a pack of 3 and they're not even that old, but they sort of protrude out at the top and don't give a smooth outline. I got another one from there that looks a bit more old fashioned (full cup) but it fits really well. I think it's sumptuously soft like @BaconAndAvocado recommended.

But most of MN hate M and S and will be along to tell us we are wearing the wrong size! 😉

I am contemplating a bralette for everyday hanging about the house. Someone I follow on Twitter recommended this ( NOT an influencer). Good reviews too. www.marksandspencer.com/3pk-seamless-non-wired-bralettes/p/clp60500235

Have you tried returning the bra? M&s are usually excellent for returns.
On a similar note I got measured and fitted at a Playtex store, the bra, after a few wears started to dig really badly in the flash just under my armpit and I took it back to return it, I put it in to show her exactly what the problem was, She exchanged it for me to a different style. No problem at all.

BusterGonad · 25/05/2022 14:20

Meaning, all because its wirn doesn't mean you can't return it.

Purpleavocado · 25/05/2022 14:24

I love the M&S Flexifit wired full cup tshirt bra. I wish they had some 'fun' colours. I haven't noticed any issues with washing it in the machine.
I also think M&S will take the other bra back, they are normally fine with returns for things like this.

Fizbosshoes · 25/05/2022 14:47

M and S have got much meaner stricter about their returns now, as have JL.

Newusernames · 25/05/2022 19:06

I’ve sent an email to customer services so will see what they say. For those who are interested i have attached a picture of the bras i have bought recently so you can see how out of shape they are!

Also you know not to fold the cups into each other when storing them? The bra needs to be open. I hang my moulded cups ones up in my wardrobe.

Trainjourney · 25/05/2022 22:04

I came across Sloggi and it's the best bra I have ever had!
