Colours that suit me in winter are wrong in the summer

I general suit warm dark colours - deep autumn if you subscribe to colour analysis terms. Colours like deep red, navy, charcoal - even black looks ok. But only in winter.

If I get any sun, my hair goes a couple of shades lighter, my skin gets some colour & deep colours just don't look right (and I'm not sure what does!).

Anyone else found this or am I a freak of nature?

You're not a freak. I don't fall into a specific "season", either. I'm all over the place and it changes almost day by day. I really don't know how to explain it. I'm not "cool", I'm not "warm", I'm all of the above.

An aspect of colour analysis is the level of contrast between your features. It sounds like in winter you have a high contrast (so pale skin and dark eyes/hair) but in summer you have less contrast as the hair lightens and the skin tans. You might find soft autumn colours suit you more in summer to compliment the lower contrast. Your eye colour doesn’t change so you will find that using those colours as your base or neutrals will work all year.

i’m a bit like this - also I think darker clothes in summer look a bit “off” as well.
For summer, I switch to chambray blues, bluey-greys, dusty rose, caramel/toffee, champagne, khaki and crisp apple green. I’m warm to neutral too but sometimes look cool. In summer in the light though, I definitely look warmer.

Thanks all - @ERDC you are completely right about the contrast. I have dark brown eyes and don't seem to suit yellows/oranges, which I feel like I should because of the rest of my colouring.

I think khaki greens will probably be ok, maybe browns (if I can find anything) - I usually avoid pastels (I don't really like them) - any other suggestions welcome!

Have you tried white? I suit the same colour palette as you, and white (though very different!) looks good on me in the summer. Especially with a slightly darker lip!

As my hair lightens and skin darkens in summer I find I can wear more colours, especially lighter ones which look awful in winter. Also brighter colours. The season definitely make a difference. Interestingly I’m an Autumn too.
