What do I wear under a short dress?

I’m a large woman, size 22. I’ve bought a gorgeous dress to wear for a summer wedding, the issue is, it’s short. Too short for me to feel comfortable with nothing underneath. But I’m hopelessly unfashionable. What should I wear underneath? Are tan tights a faux pas? I don’t want to wear dark tights. Leggings definitely wouldn’t look right under the dress. What do I do?

bare toe fine tights from M&S ? I have worn these to go to formal events when bare legs are not acceptable. You can barely see them and can wear peep toe shoes and show off your nail polish.

I know this might be frowned upon but get a seaweed wrap a day before the wedding - it takes a few inches off and I often used to do it before a special event.

And shorts too.

@Astrabees - are those tights good then? I wore a pair similar (not the same) when bridesmaid at DB's wedding and they were awful, you could still see the 'line' etc.

They were the solution for me when addressing a conference as I could wear open toed shoes and hide my white legs. You need to get the toe bits in the right place as if you are not careful they cut into your toes and are uncomfortable.
