Would you wear this to a wedding?

Obviously it’s white which is thought of as a no-no for weddings, but it’s patterned and nothing like a wedding dress so would it be ok?! Would wear with red heels.

Thanks

No, I think if it's more than half white, it's too white. There are so many other options out there.

jimboandthejetset · 23/05/2022 21:32

It looks nothing like a wedding dress so it's fine! Definitely have colourful accessories, so shoes / wrap or jacket / bag. But it's absolutely fine.
I had a (now ex) friend who about 15 years ago wore a plain white suit to her DP's friends wedding. I remember her telling me about the photographer making a comment about "the pretty one in the white suit" when they did a friends group photo, that the bride was a bit annoyed, and she sounded really incredulous about why they may be.
I then saw the photo. There she was, right at the front, in an outfit whiter than the brides dress. There are reasons why we're no longer friends!

Wear it- it's lovely and nothing like a wedding dress

Fizbosshoes · 23/05/2022 21:34

I would if that sort of dress suited me (it doesnt)

Twinstudy · 23/05/2022 21:36

erikbloodaxe · 23/05/2022 20:54

Yes I'd wear it if I wasn't fat.

This :)

Bellieboo33 · 23/05/2022 21:36

its a lovely dress, but personally I would pick something else as I tend to go on the side of caution when it comes to wearing white at weddings x

BadAtMaths2 · 23/05/2022 21:38

People on here are weird. It’s lovely and perfect for a wedding.

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 23/05/2022 21:52

No, thre are plenty of other choices, this is white, big nope

PerfectStormsinTeacups · 23/05/2022 21:55

There are so many other colours you could pick but you just have to pick the one colour that’s a big no no? Get it as a nice summer dress- but find something else for the wedding

donkeyhottie · 23/05/2022 22:02

No, but mostly because I don't like it.

thebluehen · 23/05/2022 22:06

It's perfect to wear to a wedding.

HeddaGarbled · 23/05/2022 22:09

No

hoomaeyya · 23/05/2022 22:10

Yes, really nice.

Rainbowqueeen · 23/05/2022 22:11

Yes I would. Red shoes would look amazing

Lovingsummerflowers · 23/05/2022 22:12

Thanks all! I actually already have it as I bought it for a garden party in 2020 which never happened so was hoping to get some use from it. But think I will avoid given the mixed feelings on here!

PS if anyone has any other lovely dresses to suggest please do!

Lyricallie · 23/05/2022 22:28

Nope I wouldn't, there are so many dresses in the world. Pick one less white.

C152 · 23/05/2022 22:32

No. Even with the flowers, there's just too much white to wear it to someone else's wedding.

chiickenandmayosandwich · 23/05/2022 22:35

You could just about get away with it with bold
Colourful shoes, hat/ fascinator and jacket/blazer.

If you wore neutral shoes and just the dress it would look be too white.

rainbowunicorn · 23/05/2022 21:07

It is fine. I really don't think half of mumsnet ever go to weddings as there are a lot of weird ideas about anything with even a tiny bit of white. As long as you don't rock up in a white floor-length dress you will be just grand.

This.
Am amazed at how many people seem to think this would be confused for a wedding dress Confused

Like @erikbloodaxe I personally wouldn't wear it to a wedding as I no longer have the figure I once did, but it is a nice outfit that is absolutely fine for a wedding.

1frenchfoodie · 23/05/2022 22:39

Looks great, I’d wear to a wedding uless there was reason to think the bride would be in a white shift vs more traditional dress.

gingergiraffe · 23/05/2022 23:04

It’s a lovely dress and perfect for a wedding. If I had the figure I would wear it.

scrivette · 23/05/2022 23:07

If it's a small wedding and you think the bride may be wearing a non wedding type dress then no, otherwise absolutely, I love the dress and no one will mistake you for the bride.

Yes same here. It looks nothing like a wedding dress. I'd wear it if I liked it, but it's not my style.

It's about equal on here. I honestly don't see what the problem is.
