Need inspiration for a wedding outfit

We've been invited to a wedding at the end of July and I'm feeling very unispired about what to wear. I'm middle aged, 5ft0 and size 12 so kind of dumpy really - I don't think anyone would ever call me elegant! But here's the big problem. I'm awaiting major surgery on my feet which I hoped would be done by the time of the summer but has been delayed, and until it is done my footwear choices are extremely limited. My shoes need to be flat, fairly supportive and able to put orthotic insoles in, so that basically rules out any nice shoes. I more or less live in trainers but over the winter if I've been out anywhere I've worn a pair of quite smart flat boots that ( I think) look ok with a dress or skirt. Obviously I can't wear them in July though.
So...should I abandon the idea of wearing a dress and look for a nice pair of trousers and a top or are their flat shoes that won't look hortific with a dress? I've noticed young women wearing dresses with trainer type shoes recently but I think I'm a bit old to get away with that. Inspire me please!

I'd imagine if you wore a really pretty dress and a pair of smart trainers you would be absolutely fine!
I like this dress it's got very good reviews.
