Doublewear Double FFS

So I moaned here and generally when they cancelled DW light. It was perfection for greaseball me.

I then tried al sorts from Mac, to Bobbi Brown, Armani, Nars and Dior. Everything slides off my face or is the wrong colour or both.

so now I have double wear mixed with matifying fluid and today I bought DW sheer after reading a good review. God it’s shit! Lovely going on then slides off straight away.

I want double wear light back!

I hate the disappointment of an expensive foundation that's shit.

Have you tried the EL futurist foundation, I prefer it to the double wear it's lighter and smoother with lovely coverage.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/05/2022 01:13

Yes the futurist stuff is great.

Joinedforthis2021 · 23/05/2022 01:47

Have you tried the primark dupe?

Joinedforthis2021 · 23/05/2022 01:48

Primarks double coverage matt foundation in the square bottle is a dupe for Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Foundation. I think the price is £5. I buy it in shade Toffee.

psuedocream3 · 23/05/2022 06:53

Revlon colourstay is the dupe for estee lauder doublewear, they do it in two formulas one for oily skin, and one for normal/dry. It's a close match in coverage, you just need to spend a little more time blending but the results are near identical. It's £4 at superdrug currently.

PartyPlan · 23/05/2022 07:01

Yep, the sheer DW is rubbish. Futurist is great though. Maybe ask for a sample at a counter if you can get it before you commit?

As a double wear alternative I really rate Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Filter. I find it quite matt. Again the counter will
give you a sample before you buy.

Brunonono · 23/05/2022 07:03

Another one loyal to double wear light here - so annoyed they discontinued it! Best alternative I've found (think I saw it recommended on here) is No7 hydraluminous. In store colour match gadget worked well for me and it's cheaper than DW light so worth a try?

Whoatealltheminieggs · 23/05/2022 07:23

I don’t understand the dw light thing. I’ve been wearing the original double wear for decades and always come back to it. I tried the double wear light and for me it actually seemed heavier and more claggy than the original.
Charlotte tilbury flawless filter seems very thick to me. Like spreading putty. Lancôme teint idole is pretty good. Also Dior Forever foundation. My go to though is double wear with a smear of Charlotte tilbury flawless filter.

MargosKaftan · 23/05/2022 09:35

Another one who loved the double wear light and truly hates the double wear sheer. (And can't afford another foundation until payday so I'm spending this month looking not quite right).

I might just try old school double wear.

cannaethink · 23/05/2022 14:08

I loved double wear light, hated the sheer, haven’t tried futurist.
I’m using L’Oréal infallible which is very similar to DW light imo. The first time I used it I panicked as it oxidised straight away, but by the time I blended it, it had returned to the correct shade. Bizarre. But the coverage is nice and it lasts. I think I actually prefer it.

WhereAreWeNow · 23/05/2022 19:28

That's a shame. I love ELDW light. I don't know why they keep on messing around with it. I've still got a full tube and I don't wear it every day so I'm hoping by the time I get through it all they'll have realised the new formula is crap and will have reverted to the old formula.
I noticed a Clinique foundation with a funny teardrop shaped bottle and a big white cap. It looked promising. Medium cover, salicylic acid, good shade range, long wear. Has anyone tried it?

Caveydavey · 23/05/2022 19:35

I couldn’t find a colour match in the reckon but forgot to look online where there were more colours than I store apparently. Primary dupe wasn’t right. Charlotte T just made me greasy and hydroluminous looked lively but slimed off quickly. I presumed that the futurist would do the same. The Clinique I have a sample of and hated it - found it horrid and very flat. Claggy like Il makiage.

i meant Revlon and Primark🤦‍♀️

I'm exactly the same op. Everything slides off my shiny face within a couple hours.

DW is just about ok but still makes me shiny.

CT foundation was horrible and cakey and clumped up after a few hours. Nars and Mac matte foundation didn't stay on.

I've never found any foundation that is great for oily skin.

29ac · 23/05/2022 20:22

Ugh I hate the new DW Light(sheer), I could have cried when they discontinued the old one. It just slides off my face. I’ve replaced it with two foundations that I swap between: True Match Serum (amazing lasting power) and Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin. Both hold up on my oily skin well and have a light, buildable coverage.

Caveydavey · 23/05/2022 20:26

I had a few weeks when I started tret when I wasn’t an oil slick - it was good but then my skin got used to it. Oh well

DW is very mask like and no good for those of us with dry patches. It's probably ok for oilier skin types. DWL was great for combination and drier skins. It looked much more skin like but maybe not as good for those wanting a really full on coverage

1 pump of double wear, applied with a damp beauty blender, isn’t at all mask like and still provides decent coverage. I have the occasional dry patch from tret and it seems fine but to be fair I’m mostly combo/ oily.

Shuttheblinds · 23/05/2022 22:55

Which futurist do you use? The hydra rescue or the aqua one?

Shuttheblinds · 23/05/2022 22:58

@PartyPlan @paisley256 which futurist! The aqua brilliance or hydra rescue? I really need a new one, have been using DW but it is too heavy for me now.

BlueBloodedBlue · 24/05/2022 07:48

I also mourned the loss of DWLight and having worked my way through a dozen little sample posts ,have landed on the EL Futurist Hydra Rescue - in the same colour. It's not quite as good but a definite substitute.

EL are very good with giving samples so it's worth trying it first

Fluffbutt · 24/05/2022 09:00

I have oily skin and used to wear Double wear. I now wear the Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturiser. It’s actually a lot more coverage than other tinted moisturisers I’ve tried and does a decent job of staying put.

I like the L’Oréal true match serum too but find the infallible stays on better and has more coverage. I use them both depending on what I’m up to that day.

Pointblank2 · 24/05/2022 11:54

Try Phoera foundation, I buy from Amazon at around £7 pound. Read the reviews. I find a tiny bit goes a long way and the coverage is great. After spending fortunes on foundations this will be my go to

WellTidy · 24/05/2022 11:58

I wore Doublewear Light for ages and was gutted when it was discontinued. I switched to Clinique Even Better and it is great. Really similar. My skin is dry and I’m mid 40s.
