Cerave SA - too harsh?

DD12 has been using the moisturising cerave facial wash for a while. She's got quite bumpy skin with some spots so I suggested getting her the SA wash.

She's says no, she shouldn't use an acid product am and pm, it's too harsh, so she'd need more than one facial wash. I think it's designed for twice daily use but quite possibly for older skin. She's very into skincare, mostly the Korean but she's up for anything! So she is informed but since she gets all her info off influencers on YT she might be misinformed.

What do you think? If she's right, what other suggestions does anyone have?

Does she definately need to cleanse am aswell as pm? I know Cassandra Bankson who is really great on skincare and had terrible acne does pm only and just splashes water am.

If she wants a less harsh Cleanser the Inky List Oat Milk is a nice neutral one or The Ordinary do a good cheap and cheerful one.

I love CeraVe by the SA stuff was way too harsh and really upset my skin. The normal wash sorts out my skin.

Salycilic acid is okay to use twice a day in a face wash, it's very different from other exfoliating acids. But if someone has sensitive skin caution is sensible, I'd suggest getting the CosRx Low pH good morning gel cleanser instead. It has a derivative of BHA (due to regulations in S. Korea disallowing uss of straight BHA) so it's a more gentle BHA cleanser but still effective as such. Despite the name, it can be used morning and night.

Omg I'm glad you said this because it's made me realise what's been irritating my skin! I've been using cerave SA cleanser for around 2 months or so and in that time my skin has become so sensitive! I'm mid 30s and never really had skin issues before, other than teenage acne!

I agree with your daughter. I’d maybe use the SA one two or three times a week. I think it is quite harsh. Otherwise I’d use the Cerave hydrating cleanser, foaming one maybe.

Thank you everyone, that's a clear no vote! I'll check out the other recommendations. Grateful to @botemp who I know knows her onions on this stuff for confirming my view that salicylic acid can be used more frequently then other acids. I'm trying hard to keep her away from all those for a bit longer!
