Chunky Sandals!

TooManyPJs · 22/05/2022 14:30

I think I'd like some chunky sandals 😬. There was a thread about this a few weeks ago but I can't find it now. So please send me your recommendations!

I have swollen ankles so if they can cover those up a bit all the better.

Need to be very comfy.

I am idly wondering whether I can afford these ones, at the mo. Fitflop have a very similar pair about twice the price, don't think I can stretch to those unfortunately.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 22/05/2022 14:35

I ordered these online from Marks last night and am hoping they're going to be perfect. They're the level of chunky I like. Chunky but not overly so.

Sorry, that prob isn't all that helpful seeing as I can't give you a review as yet!

I got the Schuh Tala platforms a few weeks back in the beige colour, really comfy and thinking of the black now aswell

BigWoollyJumpers · 22/05/2022 14:56

I just bought these. They have elastic, which is great for my high instep, as I sometimes struggle to get my foot into straps which crossover as they are too shallow...... I got the black ones, not convinced by the white soled ones:

I ordered 3 pairs of docs and a office pair from asos last week and they all hurt my feet !!
I ended up with a pair from Tesco for £19 that are super comfy !
I also ordered some from a website that were ten times more comfy than docs ! 🙄🙄

gunnersgold · 22/05/2022 14:59

I tried this marks ones above and they weren't comfy for me . My feet are high needs though , plus they looked really plasticy for the money!

jimboandthejetset · 22/05/2022 15:02

I bought those last year. No breaking in required at all. I love them. And I life your user-name Smile

@TooManyPJs I have the DMs and I love them. Really comfy and chunky.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 22/05/2022 15:09

I'm very taken by the docs - I'm looking for something to go with cut off jeans for wandering round Cornwall in a couple of weeks.

Didn't need breaking in, you say?

midsomermurderess · 22/05/2022 15:14

These from Clarks are pretty chunky Orianna strap

Eightiesfan · 22/05/2022 15:25

I have a couple of pairs of docs and no they do not need breaking in, but they are quite heavy and might not be suitable if you are doing a lot of walking.

IheartJKRowling · 22/05/2022 15:26

I have the Orianna and they are very comfortable.

I'm another one who tried three pairs of DM's and sent them all back. The rubbed my feet just walking across carpet and my heels were shredded after a couple of minutes.

I also tried the M&S ones but the ankle strap was really unflattering and made my legs look short and fat (quietly ponders if my legs are actually short and fat and it was nothing to do with the shoes 🤔).

MrsCharlieD · 22/05/2022 15:41

I have the Doc Martens Blair sandals. They are chunky but very lightweight considering. I had them probably 2 years now and I love them. They suit my style (alternative, metal head, used to be a goth but toned it down somewhat as I'm late 30s. Sammi jefcoate is my style icon). I wear them with everything from jeans to summer dresses, I like the juxtaposition of black chunky footwear with a light and flowy dress.

bravotango · 22/05/2022 15:55

I have my eye on a pair of Alohas - bit pricey so hoping for someone here to give them a good review before I take the plunge! Grin

GettingStuffed · 22/05/2022 17:49

I bought these yesterday,a bit chunky rather than totally chunky www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/women/shoes/sandals/flat-sandals/white-leather-studded-sandals/p/25015490

I got these in cream - super comfy

Sleepyteach · 22/05/2022 20:47

I have these (although I paid about half the price!) and I LOVE them. Comfiest shoes ever. I walked about five miles in them one day on holiday and no issues what so ever! www.teva-eu.com/en/gb/women-sandals/flatform-universal-leather/194715396753.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwvqeUBhCBARIsAOdt45Y-BgZ2QTte8mW248EDJBGOqXCh5MVVqUdgsYB2xDvetFmsqGjfo_4aAlx4EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Tons of Dr Marten-Alike ones on Asos. I wish I could wear them but my horrible arthritis won’t let me. Bah!!

itsnotmeitsu · 22/05/2022 21:26

The Doc Martens that I have that were produced before they were outsourced to China are so comfortable. The last couple of pairs I bought are poor quality and poor sizing, and I'll no longer be buying them - especially as they're still as expensive. For sandals, I've now got into Birkenstocks. They still seem to be of the same quality that you'd expect. It's even a thing to wear your Birkenstocks with socks now, so double win - comfort all round 😀

The Voss (and Blaire I think) are lightweight as they have a different sole to the other DM sandals. Mine are definitely not heavy, just very very comfy!

whiteonesugar · 23/05/2022 10:51

I got some from Next lately - their forever comfort range, they are surprisingly comfortable - £40
