We are going to an abroad wedding for my SIL in the autumn. She’s specifically asked members of the family to wear nude/blush colours (white is obviously out but even so I always thought it was faux pas to wear pale colours!) I am absolutely drawing a blank on what to wear and even though it’s still a few months away I’m breaking out into a cold sweat about this!

Criteria -

Nude/blush/pale colours acceptable (I love the pale sage that’s going around at the moment and she’s said that’s fine)

I am a 14-16 with big boobs so good undercarriage is a must and rules out anything backless or low backed. I am currently dieting and hitting the gym reasonably hard (8mo restricts how often I can go!) but I’m not hopeful of looking significantly different by the end of summer.

SIL is happy with longer length dresses and I’d love something floaty and romantic feeling. I am usually a plain dresser and tend to cover up a lot in baggy clothes, I’d really love to wear something a bit more flattering that doesn’t make me look and feel about twice the size that I actually am.

I’ve searched and searched online but haven’t remotely found anything that I really like the look of. This wedding is going to be fairly swanky and SIL has very glamorous friends and I just don’t want to feel like a frump! This is a me problem rather than a them problem, they are all really lovely. Added to this (and this is really cheesy) but I just really want for DH to think ‘wow’. We haven’t been away for years and this is going to be a really lovely break for us.

So. Now that you’ve read my neurotic ramblings, please share with me any recent gems that you may have found or any recommendations for where to look!

Thank you ❤️

Have you tried Coast? Bit pricey but lots of lovley dresses

trulyconfuseddotcom · 21/05/2022 21:25

Have you looked at Nancy Mac? Lots of lovely greens and blush colours, I love their stuff.

I’ve looked at Coast endlessly, I love the second dress you’ve posted, the first is gorgeous but I have a C-section ‘pouch’ and would feel self conscious in something like that, even with the best Spanx in the world! I just worry that too many of the dresses that I like there are too bridesmaid, I know that SIL is fine with a fuller length but live in fear of being ‘that’ relative who turned up in too long a dress 🤦‍♀️😂 I am aware that this is mostly in my head!

will have a browse through Nancy Mac now, thank you both!

Nancy Mac is just gorgeous. Very sadly might be just on the outside of my price range but I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on it! Do you have experience of ordering from them before? Are their sizes usually true to size?

Knew I could count on mumsnet for a fresh set of eyes! Really love that last wrap dress posted @HSKAT As much as I have a lovely idea that I’ll look ok in most necklines I think I’ll probably have to consider more of a wrap dress.

This is my problem, it’s a gorgeous dress but I’m going to need to pin my SIL down when I have a short list and make sure she’s 100% happy with a longer dress if that’s what I end up with.

Silk Fred is my go to for an occasion dress! Deffo worth a look on their website

Fernsinthegarden · 21/05/2022 21:47

Love this but reckon I’d end up taking up too much bodice with boob if that makes sense

These are gorgeous, thank you! I think probably too far outside of my price range though :(

Having neither style nor beauty myself OP, I can't help with a dress but just wanted to pop on and say I sincerely hope you get that wow moment with your husband. Life takes over so often but I really hope you knock him out. Good luck!

trulyconfuseddotcom · 21/05/2022 21:58

Quite pretty in both colours:

And you could have it taken up if you felt too long.

@ChurchlightJane thank you, that’s really kind of you to say. Life really does take over and it’s been a hell of a year so I just want him to see more than the raggedy mum bun frazzled dressing that he usually sees!
