The events:
- I am going to a conference - work related but I'm there in a personal capacity out of interest and don't need to impress anybody. People will be smart casual.
- I'm also going to a friend's PhD type symposium (it's something legal I don't entirely understand but I'm coming because he's my friend!) followed by his retirement party at a nice but not super-yacht style marina. Guests will be a mixture of lawyers, ethicists and arty types.
My shape:
High-waisted apple. Size 16-18. 5 foot 6. Flat arse and medium boobs for size.
What I want:
To feel comfortable - that's very important - look smart and neither completely out of touch nor a fashion victim - and be out of my jeans! I do not look good with lines cutting my torso so never wear a top tucked in fully, nor belts etc. i like colour and can happily wear bright red or some yellows. Dresses often look good because they carry the colour down vertically and I wear a long cardigan over to focus on length.
I've found these two options. Basically wearing whole colour (yellow or the blue pattern) and would wear with nice trainers and this jacket: www.mintvelvet.co.uk/products/beige-long-blazer-coat. I think with the yellow I'd have to compromise with a French tuck, but colour would be a vertical.
What do you think? I have no idea any more what looks bad! I do like all the components though..and they look comfortable.
