Thongs for wider hips size 12/14

I keep buying underwear and having to rehome it!! I can't seem to find any decent fitting cotton thongs which fit around my (size 10/12) hips without digging in and leaving a bulge you can see through a dress for instance.

I've been sizing up to 14 even though none of my jeans/trousers are a 14, and the M&S ones I bought today in a multipack, seem tiny around the hips! They are very tight!! Unwearable. Another waste of money!

If I size up too much, they are baggy around the crotch.
Can anyone advise?!

I wear a size 12 jeans and buy a 16 or 18 so they sit on my hips with no digging

Are you quite long waisted? I have this problem because pants are generally designed for a shorter distance between crotch and waist than I have - so on other people the top of the pants sit closer up towards the waist (ie in a narrower area) than on me, whereas it's still a wider part on me - wider than the band allows for. I have to buy high waisted pants to get a decent match between my trouser size and my pants size

Sorry - should have proof read!

Don't they go baggy between your legs? It's a minefield!

Also if you're happy to share I'd love to know which brand, as I need to try others!

Cheericat hmm I don't actually know. I don't think so as I'm only 5ft 3, but I guess that could be the problem? I've not seen high waisted cotton thongs, where do you buy from?

If anything I think I might need lower waisted ones if I'm sizing up to try to decrease the bagginess.

@octopusrus , I buy from Next, I am taller than you and have a torso like a silverback 🤣

Brogues · 18/05/2022 18:43

I usually size up but I’m quite round hipped and have a smaller waist so they roll awkwardly so I’ve moved on to lace back Brazilian pants from H&M that are more comfortable.

McConkeysPlate 🤣

brogues I've tried the Brazilian style rather than thongs but they just give me a wedgie after 2 seconds!

I LOVE these. The shape looks a bit odd on the model but they are the comfiest thong ever. Not cotton but modal.
They are also the most flattering pants I have. The thickness of the sides stops any digging in. I am a 14/16 and get a XL. The L would fit fine, but I prefer a bit of breathing room. Wish they did more colours

Thank you, they do have great reviews. I'm a bit wary of buying online without seeing the sizing so I think I'll try to see if I can find them in store first.
