Curly hair children - what is your routine?

Hello,

For those with tight curl little ones, what is your routine? My son is autistic and needs the most low maintenance routine possible but I feel like his hair is a bit dry at the moment.

We wash weekly with conditioner only, usually cantu or African pride.

I think I need to start spraying with conditioner spray or oil mid wash... What's best?

On this chart he would be a 3C curl type. It's so different to both me and his dad I don't feel I'm getting it totally right.

Following as I could have written this too! No advice I'm afraid but wish I had more knowledge.

DD13 tight curly hair is autistic and adhd.

The only thing that works really well is using the body shop ginger shampoo as she gets an itchy scalp then the Lush American cream conditioner. It has lanolin in and in my experience it's this that makes it softer and brushable to get the knots out when the conditioner is still in. I use a tangle teezer brand brush.

When it's washed off I use palmers oil spray on leave in conditioner, brush it through. I then plait her hair to dry.

I also find that it's easier for her to wash it in two halves so half the hair like you are doing two bunches and then lather one side then the other. She hates the whole rigorous washing and I find this helps.

Mine is 3b & daughters looks as if it is the same. Personally I spray my hair with water everyday to refresh the curls & finger through a variety of products inc. Shea moisture, cantu & others such as as I am. People will likely come on and bash cantu but I haven't found it dries my hair and have been using it for years. I then leave to air dry.
