Do you wear crop tops?

For fitness or causal? I used to avoid them when younger as never liked my hips (idiot) but they've grown on me now I'm older...typical. I like a few of the goodmove sports tops at M&S and thinking of trying one with high waist leggings/longer jacket, etc.

Love or loathe?

I love them. They're my go to for high waist leggings jeans and skirts. They have to be the exact length to either meet the waist band or show the tiniest slither of skin for me though. I'm a slim small waisted hour glass and they are the most flattering for me. Like tucking in but without all the bulk.

whywhywhy5 · 16/05/2022 15:49

After DC2 I honestly get the heeby jeebies just looking at them. Like someone will suddenly force me to wear one and what's been nicely concealed will spill out everywhere Blush

BreakfastOfWaffles · 16/05/2022 15:52

I have recently become a fan of the cropped hoodie with high waisted jeans, but always layered over a t shirt. I am at an age where I don't feel my best self flashing menopausal tummy, and much prefer the non revealing crop look.

astoundedgoat · 16/05/2022 15:59

I do. I wear a lot of tops that just skim the waistband of my jeans, and for the gym I wear high waisted leggings with a top that's a good two inches above my navel.

I'm slim, but have stumpy legs, and cropped tops with high waisted things shifts my proportions upwards and gives an illusion of longer legs.

balalake · 16/05/2022 16:00

No, and to be honest I wish no-one else did.

MrsGinaHarrison87 · 16/05/2022 16:01

Nope. 4 c sections later my crop top days are well and truly over.

DisgruntledPelican · 16/05/2022 16:02

I love them, but unfortunately at the moment I’m not slim & have a huge bloated belly.

Changemaname1 · 16/05/2022 16:04

Yes but as others says just to meet the waistband of high waisted jeans etc with the smallest line of skin on show definitely flatters my figure . However proper short crop top with lower waisted jeans - absolutely not for me 🤣

TheOGCCL · 16/05/2022 16:07

Not for me but I do think the waist (not the stomach, above that, more just under the boobs) is often the slimmest part of a woman, its definitely mine. It's the stomach where people tend to feel self-conscious

Suprima · 16/05/2022 16:09

Yep. I’m usually flat of tummy with a small waist. It’s one of my better features so very happy to show it off.

Nearly 9 months pregnant and I still wear them with maxi and midi skirts.

SingingSands · 16/05/2022 16:10

I wish I could. Unfortunately my stomach resembles corduroy after two pregnancies. I used think it would improve with time but DD is 18 now and it still looks the same 😆

Please, wear them for me and rejoice in doing so!!

UseOfWeapons · 16/05/2022 16:21

Wore them until I hit about 44, but in my opinion, not a good look for me now! I’ve got a 6 pack, but my nearly 56 year old skin is a bit saggy, so I’ve bowed out of this with grace.
Loved wearing them in my younger days, but enough is enough. Having said that, I give a silent cheer and a big smile to anyone who I see wearing one, the brighter the better!

LouraLoura · 16/05/2022 16:30

I think the Katie Holmes pic illustrates a good, more mature way to wear them. If you like them and are comfy.
I certainly wouldn't go for the teen look of a vast expanse of skin showing, not because i am in my 40's so much as i didn't like it the first time around, it's just a bit too extravert for me Grin

I like it in the yoga studio kind of way. And only with high waists. They do have a streamlining effect and i don't suit bunched up tucked in stuff.

I also like longline, too.
My belly is ok, very pale and forgotten about, not too toned, either, but as long as I feel alright i might do it in summer when active.

I wish I could wear them. I’d look like Winnie the Pooh with my belly sticking out though 😳

But that's more about where your waistband hits. Back in the 90's when I had a teenage washboard stomach I'd wear crop tops with lethally low baggy cords, and I would also look like Winnie The Pooh, especially by evening, so I wear high/mid-high waisted jeans/leggings and the gap or join of the crop top sits on or just above the waistband, quite a bit above my tummy.

These days the gap is supposed to be where - as @TheOGCCL says - you are slimmest, which usually your waist - NOT your hips/tummy.

LouraLoura · 16/05/2022 16:54

I would also wear those tiny cropped leggings shorts under tshirt dresses and for exercise indoors. I hate my little jelly thighs but life is too short sometimes to keep giving a stuff.

Good for impromptu dips in a lake, too, without having to resort to expense of a bikini !

Yes I wear them a lot with high waisted mom jeans, I wear harem and workout clothes a lot so I wear with them too. I like a crop top.

BluegrassBlues · 16/05/2022 21:07

Fuck no. I've always hated wearing crop tops - nothing against them on other people they just look rubbish on me and I hate showing my stomach.

Arenanewbie · 16/05/2022 21:46

loathe

Haybo26 · 16/05/2022 22:03

God no!! 44, size 12 waist 14 top but no no no.

Zazdar · 16/05/2022 23:05

I sometimes wear them at the gym or elsewhere, but only when it’s warm.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 16/05/2022 23:16

Fucking Hell

NO

lljkk · 16/05/2022 23:18

People don't want to see my tummy cellulite.

I wouldn't mind if everyone flashed their cellulite, but I'm not minded to be the only one flashing it.

DramaAlpaca · 16/05/2022 23:21

God no! Even the thought makes me shudder.
