Booty shorts!

First I've heard of these. I must be out of the loop.
Was the first truly warm sunny day here yesterday and I saw lots of teens wearing them. At one time I would have said such things (basically hotpants) were slightly indecent and never wore them myself when young - but these girls looked fabulous, mostly paired with trainers, tshirts or hoodie tops (yes, in that weather!) and they looked more put together, sporty and practical than the disco-hotbabe-hotpants of my youth.

I actually had a moment's regret that I wouldn't be trying it out Grin

Looked online later and and noticed they're referred to as Booty shorts. Will probably be purchasing some high waist denim ones, a wee bit longer in the leg, nothing too cruise-like though.

I have also noticed the Deee-Lite style coming back in the shops, lots of pastel colours with whopping huge daisies on.

Yikes! I’ve just bought my 11 year old granddaughter some period pants from Modibodi…..and they aren’t too dissimilar from those ‘booty shorts’ LoL!

My DP seems to love me in leggings, so when we saw the girls and I pointed them out he said "oh you'd look amazing in those, they're cut off leggings!"
Bless the little fool for never perceiving me as growing older, I have no idea whether to laugh or cry.

I mean they’re no different than the old hot pants or jean shorts that were around in the 60’s/70’s if not a little earlier.

LouraLoura · 16/05/2022 13:55

they are worn differently now, less night on the town and more casual.

@LouraLoura

Daisy duke type jeanshorts we’re worn casually too. My own very normal socially mother wore them in the 70’s, so did others. It wasn’t a big deal.

im late 40's and wear them with tee and longline hoodie for exercise. Or under a tshirt dress instead of knickers. More streamlined. They have their uses!
