Headscarves… where to buy

AnyFucker · 15/05/2022 14:08

Since most department stores have closed in my area I am frequently stumped where to buy stuff from.

I need a couple of headscarves, the small triangular type, to cover my head/hair on holiday. Any ideas ????

eBay? Amazon?

thecurtainsofdestiny · 15/05/2022 14:14

Depending on where you live, small local shops might have them.

New Look does bandanas and I think Claire's accessories has similar.

I have some from Mango, well made and great colours.

Seasalt have a range too. Hermes have the most exquisite collection. You might get pre loved on Vestiere.

I know actual triangles are in fashion this year, but aren’t most headscarves actually a square scarf folded over? They’re on every clothing website I open.

Would there be a reason you couldn’t use an ordinary square scarf? (I may genuinely have missed something obvious!)

You would not want 75x75 for the beach. This the actually headscarf size the Queen wears. You need 45x45. Yes. Fold in half. Seasalt do a headband type one already folded.

There are loads of beautiful vintage silk scarves on eBay.

TizerorFizz · 15/05/2022 16:00

Silk can be quite warm in the summer. Cotton is better.

AnyFucker · 15/05/2022 16:51

I have a couple of square ones to fold. A silky one which slips off and a cotton one that is a bit stiff and creases where you tie it,

Thanks for the ideas so far. My menopausal thinning hair means my scalp burns now 🙄

H&M always have scarves.

This looks lovely: www.youngbritishdesigners.com/shop/jasmine-coe/products/honeybee-hive-silk-scarf---small-/aw20.jcs.07/

I guess hairpins are the answer to slipping off?

PumpkinCrumble · 15/05/2022 17:20

Can confirm the Seasalt sailor squares are good to wear on the head.

TottersBlankly · 15/05/2022 17:32

Three more: unexceptionable cotton from Massimo Dutti; budget friendly from Zara - if you can bear polyester on your head; and a cashmere beauty for when you get back from your holiday.

Some lovely ideas. Some a bit too £££ for a bit of material that is going to get covered in sweat and sun tan cream 😀

I bought a lot of Deresina scarves from Amazon when I was on chemo. Loads of designs, reasonable prices, easily washed.
enjoy your holiday !
