Going out shoes

I've got a work night out soon 3 course meal in a hotel. We've been told the dress code is smart casual no trainers, flip flops etc.

I have no idea what to wear??? I've been in the role for a year and before that was a SAHM so it's been a long time since I went to a work function.

I've found a dress I may wear but I have no idea about shoes. I've never been a heels wearer so they need to be flat but all I seem to find are loafers or strappy sandals but I want to wear tights so they're no good. I'll try and post a picture of the dress but it hasn't arrived yet so may not look right.

Could you possibly get a closed toe shoe with a low heel? A thick heel so it's more comfortable to wear. New Look has some lovely low heeled shoes, or possibly some boots! :)

I won't wear heels for anyone! I'd go with strappy sandals.

If I was wearing that dress and trainers weren't allowed, i'd wear nice ankle boots with a small heel, with nude tights (though if my legs weren't blue id probably forgo the tights!)
