Florida is SUPER casual. It'll still be hot in October, but the air conditioning indoors will be cool (I'm jumping to conclusions that you're at some kind of conference at a big hotel or similar?).

@EmmaStone thanks so much- yes exactly- conference at hotel. Oh glad they're casual!

I am a habitual over-packer and I am sure lots of people can do this a lot better but this would be my starting point...

2x knee length plain/print dresses for daytime (cotton or jersey, probably from somewhere like Weird Fish, FatFace etc)
1x shorts for activities / out and about in a neutral colour
3x lightweight tops/t-shirts to go with shorts or skirt
1x maxi skirt that could be worn with the tops/t-shirts above
1x plain trousers with a bit of stretch, possibly ankle length
2 x slightly dressier tops that would go with trousers or the maxi skirt
At least 1x dress for the evening, maybe a jersey midi/maxi dress or wrap dress to wear with heels if you do go somewhere dressier.
1x neutral cardigan and 1x long-sleeved Breton t-shirt that I can throw over if it's cold.
1x swimsuit
1 x flip flops
1x flat sandals
1x heeled sandals or wedges
I'd probably travel in a pair of comfy white pumps as another option.

Try to coordinate colours. I tend to wear a lot of black, red and navy tops so I would choose a navy print skirt and beige/white/denim shorts

Sounds like you are already on it but my advice would be to buy now... if you leave it until September it's much harder to get Summer stuff.

So sorry, there were line spaces in my original post.

Silverbirch2 · 12/05/2022 22:34

@RomainingCalm thank you! This is what I needed- great advice.

Don't skip over Romaining's tip about a cardigan or jumper btw. They air condition so fiercely out there (and sometimes on flights due to recirculating air against covid) that you can get frostbite!
