Summer dress for work

cherrypiepie · 11/05/2022 21:47

I need a smart comfortable non floral summer dress or jumpsuit for work. I can wear sandals.

Midi length business casual and modest covering chest, shoulders and knees. I work in a secondary school as a teacher. 'it is very hot at work in the top floor so must be cool.

I like floral but prefer a bit more conservative for work not too pretty. stripes ok and maybe spots or other discreet non floral pattern.

Size 16 - 18 5'6 budget not to much! Up to £50

Bonus point for pockets!

I got three stunning dresses from Morrisons. £18 each and almost maxi on me as I'm 5ft3. The same dress but three different patterns and colours. Tie round the back, 3/4 sleeves and very light. Goes up to 22 and generous sizing.

I teach, I got some super uniglo dresses. C£38.

@ithoughtisawapuddycat is it this Morrisons dress?

I'm currently in love with this website:
www.sugarhillbrighton.com/collections/dresses

The dresses seem to have pockets and some come in longer lengths. They might not all be smart enough for what you are after but there are a range of non-floral ones. Plus some are on sale.

@Catmummyof2 yes I bought the Flissy Jersey dress in black and rainbow polka dot. I'm really pleased with it and fabric matters to me. Although I've only just got it so not washed it yet.

Noelsjumper · 11/05/2022 22:24

Popsy are great for work as they all have pockets and even their wrap fronts can be work suitable if you have a larger chest. Some of the dress prints are a bit out there, but I love love love their jumpsuits and midi dresses.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 11/05/2022 23:05

I really like Monki for midi dresses.

NotMeNoNo · 11/05/2022 23:17

Lands End have some great dresses, and a sale going on.

cherrypiepie · 12/05/2022 19:34

Some great ideas thanks!

Uniqlo ones look ideal.

I have some Sugarhill jumpers and tops. I've found they wash and wear really well.

Kenworthington · 12/05/2022 19:48

H&m and cos are my go-to and I’m the same size as you. Cos a bit more pricey but their stuff is good and usually has pockets for the win. Good stuff on sale often

cherrypiepie · 12/05/2022 20:57

I would look at Seasalt and M&S. I really like the flared shirt dresses at M&S and some are plain. Also Cos have some excellent plain shirt dresses which are great. The navy ones in particular.

Happy to help! I discovered them recently and it's really my style. Resisting going back on the website and buying more 😁
