mardi gras

I'm going to a festival with a mardi gras themed fancy dress.

I literally have no ideas.
Please help.

Extra points for adults and kids ideas.

This could be an easy kids outfit. Stripey top tucked into lycra shorts with
co-ordinating ruffles sewn on to the bottom of the shorts.

Masks (Venetian, not Halloween!)

Lots of chains of beads

Purple, yellow and green colours

In New Orleans they wear little and take theirs tops off, or at least used to. Up to you if you want to go down this route.

You could maybe incorporate some elements of pancake day too because this is what we do instead. That might be funny?!
