Maxi Dress for Asian wedding

Looking for a maxi dress, with sleeves and not low cut for an evening wedding reception.

Most guests will be wearing Asian outfits. I’m mixed race and I do own a couple of Asian wedding outfits but I’ve worn them too often to wear again and they’re probably very out of fashion now.

Budget would ideally be under £60 but that’s probably a bit optimistic. Any help gratefully appreciated.

To add, I’m in my 30s and will wear any colour except yellow and orange.

If you can increase your budget a bit, frock n frill have loads of lovely occasion-style maxi dresses but they're around the £100 mark. Or maybe try monsoon or asos?

Some lovely long sleeved ones on here and very under budget!

Or get a higher necked sleeveless one and wear a jacket/cashmere cardigan? Will give you more choice

I really like the silhouette of that boohoo one, but not mad keen on the colour options. (Shortly after saying I’d wear most colours)

Came to recommend ASOS as well as generally Asian weddings have people wearing more heavy embroidered or embellished dresses and one of my friends buys Maxi/ midi dress and wears with leggings to make it an Asian dress and can be reused as a dress elsewhere.

OP, where do you live? In Birmingham you could pick up a really lovely Asian outfit for £60 from the many Asian highstreets, same in London, Bradford, Manchester etc.

EllaBlaire · 11/05/2022 14:29

@KurriKawari I could get to Manchester to
go outfit shopping but I don’t think I want a traditional Asian outfit.
Being mixed race I feel a bit awkward wearing Asian clothes sometimes. I’d rather wear something that feels part of my wardrobe, but still appropriate for the occasion.

The Sasha dress on this website is maxi. With sleeves and not too low cut - if that’s an issue they do long matching scarves. Some lovely prints, including turquoise and gold.

Love those Maya ones.

Has anyone seen anything similar to this but cheaper?

Not trying to hijack the thread OP but thank you @mowglika for posting the link to the Maya dresses. Whilst I'm not going to an Asian wedding I am cruising next year and will need a couple of formal dresses. I thought I'd treat myself to a new one as it will be our first cruise since Covid started and one of these will be perfect!
