I've recently been given a promotion and I need to update my wardrobe. I'm mid 50s and do not have a huge budget I wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction of where to start looking, please? I work in education so business suits would be OTT.

Hi OP. I think no matter your age or size, wrap dresses are perfect for work. I've got several, from Hobbs. The key is to choose one made of thick, robust fabric. I wear a tight black vest tucked into black tights to give me a smooth line underneath. I think thick strap cami's under long cardigans or flowing unstructured jackets work with stretch crop trousers. Zara also do some great long length blouses for about £29.99, pattern and plain.

In spring/summer I love midi dresses that hug your bust and lightly float out, synched in with a waist belt paired with smart sandals. Shirred bust dresses work well with a waist belt too.

In winter I generally wear jersey pencil skirts with flattering blouses.
