Simple black jersey dress?

To go with anything and dress up dress down? Not so thin that the fabric is see through, nice shape. Probably boat neck and cap sleeve, just a very simple timeless dress. Anyone seen something like this?

I have been looking for the same thing and the best option I have found so far is Boden, they have a number of simply cut dresses in patterns but also navy and black

Can’t help with the boat neck, but Boden - the Amelie dress is one they do every year and is really popular, also the flutter sleeve dress this year. Both good weight black jersey (Amelie slightly heavier, I’d say), flattering and quite timeless. There is also a jersey v neck dress which has a gather on the chest which is very similar.

People Tree or Baukjen are usually good for this.

Cos have some brilliant plain dresses in at the moment, some are in their 25% off promotion too. I was tempted but didn't really need another Cos dress

I bought the WOMEN UNIQLO U AIRISM COTTON SHORT SLEEVED LONGLINE FLARE DRESS from Uniqlo on Friday - looks so much nicer in real life - think I'm going to wear it loads!

There are some good options on boden. Was hoping to spend a bit less but be fair it id hope it could be one I wear for years to come.

I bought one from H&M recently that is fairly thick jersey fabric.

Dig around for Boden discount codes. There aren’t as many around as in the past but you’ll still find something.

I have the Boden Florrie dress (in navy, to wear at work, very conservative workplace). It's a very simple shape, and they do it in black.

This is the one I was looking at but wasn't sure if it was a little formal? I want to be able to throw it on wit a denim jacket and sandals as well as dressing it up. Has it got any stretch?

Yes, it does. It's not very 'formal' fabric (lovely for summer in my non-air conditioned office), you could easily wear it with a denim jacket. Boden have free returns.

Cheap but durable in my experience. You can filter out polyester, length etc.
I’m currently trawling through plain black dresses as I need one for an open air choir performance and I don’t do black in summer…

I had to buy something like this for a funeral a couple of months ago and found that Next had a good choice of black jersey dresses. I ended up buying one from a brand I’d never heard of.
