Foundation change help

Getting older, pores more evident, current foundation (Clinique) almost empty so going to John Lewis to get something new. Any suggestions for a new brand for a pale, late forties woman who needs coverage which transforms me into a 20 year old!

Go to Boots instead and get No7 hydraluminous

If you want a slightly lighter foundation try Nars Tinted Moisturiser, more like a foundation in coverage. Final fave is Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua

OldTinHat · 08/05/2022 08:35

Second PP about going to Boots. They have a doodib machine (technical term!) to match your skin colour to foundation and will recommend the right one.

Daisyblush · 08/05/2022 12:47

Thank you both! Sounds good!

Boots Hydraluminous is the best foundation I've ever used.

(And in my reject bag I have Armani, Bobbi Brown, Chantecaille and about ten other spendy ones)

Bobbins36 · 08/05/2022 13:16

Trinny London has been a gamechanger for me - middle aged, crap at make up - it’s really easy and natural looking too.

supadupapupascupa · 08/05/2022 14:21

My favourite is It Cosmetics better than skin foundation. I looks better after an hour or so after application.
With a Chanel cheek balm.
So soft and glowy

bobbingalongside · 08/05/2022 14:22

I will never understand why people always recommend Boots Hydraluminous by No7.

It looks really lovely on but slides off my face within a couple of hours!

YouAreShoutingAtTea · 08/05/2022 14:34

I usually do not trust the adverts on Facebook but I did try Il Makiage and it's amazing! It covers everything and lasts long. You do the matching online and it does work, if it doesn't you can exchange it

Purplecatshopaholic · 08/05/2022 14:40

I love Trinny BFF for light coverage, and Il Makiage foundation for work/going out. As someone has said, it’s amazing. The online quiz got me the perfect shade (never in a million thought it would), and it’s really great coverage (late 40s skin)

Goodness I've found quite the reverse, unusually for me it stays put very well...
what are you using to finish it with?
I've found the LauraGeller powder works well with it or if you prefer a loose powder maybe the L'Oréal no filter one I think it's called.

bobbingalongside · 08/05/2022 15:48

@DoubleShotEspresso I have never used anything to set it with

I don't use anything to set my estee Lauder with and that lasts all day Sad

DoubleShotEspresso · 08/05/2022 16:17

@bobbingalongside ahhh that's perhaps why?
The only EL foundation I've tried was the Doublewear and despite all the wonderful reviews my face hated it. :-(
Totally different coverage type though to the Boots one.

MyKingdomforaNameChange · 08/05/2022 16:20

Another vote here for Il Makiage, the shade is perfect and it goes on beautifully. I'm 48 with thread veins and large pores (don't I sound gorgeous!) and it really works for me :)

Daisyblush · 08/05/2022 17:35

I looked at il Makiage but all the ‘hey bestie’ type emails were irritating so deleted them!

Same, drove me mad and actually dissuaded me from trying it!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 09/05/2022 05:41

Couldn't get on with Il Makiage at all. The colour match was perfect, can't fault that, but the formulation just sits weirdly on my skin. Back to Sheer Glow for me!

BaaMoon · 09/05/2022 06:20

I agree with the posters who suggest going to boots. Or a NARS counter.
