Road trip in a convertible - head scarf tips

My midlife crisis was buying a convertible. Turns out, as we don't drive much, but love motorracing, and have odd classic cars, this our modern sensible car....

I'm driving a trip of about 400 miles in the summer, weather should be nice and roads chilled so we are planning at least some of it to be with the roof down. I have long, mid back length, thick hair. Tied in 2 plaits today the length was fine, but lots whipped loose and I'd love to keep the top more...swept in!

Anyone have any great tips or brands for headscarves? And how I can secure them for motorway travel?

My baseball-cap-holding-down-the-hair on a lanyard to my shirt isn't quite the sophisticated traveller look I was after...

Depending on what type of car it is and if you have any passengers in the back, the best thing to get is a wind deflector, complete game changer for a convertible.

Yep wind deflector and proper hat. You will get loads of sun damage otherwise. High SPF & sunglasses for sure. Don't forget spf on back of neck. What era is the car from?

Great ideas, thank you! It's a 1990s Alfa Romeo Spider, 2 seats.

Ooh I love the Alfa spiders!
I use a wind deflector but also wear scarves from La Redoute or Liberty.

nothing to long

you don’t want it winding out and catching on the wheels and strangling you 😂
I remember reading about a film star in the 50s that this happened to

Yep, my fellas response to this was along those lines. Isadora Duncan, I think.

I've ordered one of those wide headbands, have a hat (on a lanyard tether so I don't lose it down the autoroute) and am considering a headscarf as well....Will report back, thanks all!

I put my ponytail (long) through the gap in the back of the baseball cap to keep it on!
