Exactly that really, is this too casual for an evening wedding reception? Would it look better with a belt?

It's perfect if you are just going in the evening.

SleepingStandingUp · 08/05/2022 00:18

Unless it's "formal" I think that's fine.

balalake · 08/05/2022 09:31

I think so sadly.

Iamthewombat · 08/05/2022 10:31

Yes, too casual. That’s an outfit for going shopping in. It’s nice to make a bit of an effort, even if you are just at the evening do.

GettingStuffed · 08/05/2022 10:48

This could easily be made smarter with nice shoes and jewellery

mocktail · 08/05/2022 11:34

It looks perfect to me. Unless of course it's a super formal black tie do! I think it could easily be dressed up or down in future with different footwear too.

AuntieMarys · 08/05/2022 11:44

Looks fine to me! I'm wearing similar ( but full length) to an actual wedding. With flats 😀
No doubt the etiquette mafia will sneer...but I'm in my 60s and can!

Comedycook · 08/05/2022 11:45

Yeah you can dress that up and it will be fine

KimikosNightmare · 08/05/2022 12:49

It's very underwhelming for anything but it'll be fine, if that's what you want to wear.

mocktail · 08/05/2022 15:56

@AuntieMarys Flats are fine, I was also thinking it could be dressed down for holiday with flipflops or SuperGa or similar 🙂

mocktail · 08/05/2022 15:58

Or indeed with Birkenstock type sandals like in the link Smile

Crazykefir · 08/05/2022 15:59

It's fine. You can read wear it throughout the summer.

Lovinglife45 · 08/05/2022 16:52

I think this looks too casual for an evening reception.

Oblomov22 · 08/05/2022 16:58

Too casual.

Lovinglife45 · 08/05/2022 17:06

Some suggestions from Next website. Jumpsuits priced between £40 and £45.

Thanks for the replies. It's a casual evening reception after a register office ceremony.
I'm thinking heals and a belt of some kind to dress it up.

I really don't understand the attraction of jumpsuits.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 08/05/2022 20:10

The length of the legs is throwing it off for me - they’re too short, it makes the proportions a bit awkward and looks more casual/beachy to me.

I like the options posted by Lovinglife, especially the blue one.

TomAllenWife · 08/05/2022 20:13

Awful, looks like something I'd pop to Tesco in

Pootle40 · 08/05/2022 20:15

I'd wear it at night on holiday but not to a wedding reception as bit casual for me

PortalooSunset · 08/05/2022 20:25

Couldn't wear it myself but it looks grand. As the model is wearing it yep, too casual, but with accessories and some dressy shoes I think it would be lovely.

Sparkletastic · 08/05/2022 20:31

Too casual. If you want to wear a trouser suit look for one that isn't cropped.
