Trousers for Long Haul

I like these, er, pyjamas due to the stripes and the slightly cropped flared leg. However, they don't have my size (16) and even with a different top are probably a bit too like nightwear! But, hopefully they give an idea!

I am shortish of the leg and I am flying long haul so want to be comfortable. I am quite round around the middle, but have slim legs and don't fancy something like yoga pants as I might get sweaty around the crotch! I will probably wear the bottoms with a slightly a-line vest top and a popover short and a wrap.

We are flying somewhere hot and humid and ideally I'd like them to be good to wear while we are away as well as once we are back in the UK.

Oh, and again, I love stripes!

Not too much to ask, is it!

Can anyone help...? x

Definitely too pyjamay. H&M are good at wide legged cropped trousers. Can’t see any striped ones at the mo but they often do pattterned ones or they do ribbed ones so there’s a stripe within the fabric. I’m a short apple and the cropped ones are pretty much full length on me.

JemimaPyjamas · 07/05/2022 10:10

The pyjamas were just to give an idea, I agree they are a bit too nightwearish!

Had a brief look at H&M but couldn't see anything although perhaps they will stock more as it gets warmer...?

I wore bamboo harem pants on our last long flight, super soft, got them when I had Covid and my skin got super sensitive. So difficult with long haul because sometimes it’s really warm and sometimes it’s freezing cold. I wore those a tee and had a hoodie, was fairly comfortable. Wish I’d had more comfy socks and shoes, think although they look awful, socks and sliders would be my choice next time.

JemimaPyjamas · 07/05/2022 10:40

Where were they from? I have an ancient pair of Hush harems but think (a new pair) would be too warm, or potentially so. Hush also did some fabulous striped light joggers which were wonderful but I've worn the one's I got (in 2017) so much that they've now worn through!

Could just be too early in the season as they do variants every year. Here are some past season examples

@CeeceeBloomingdale I wear those but in plain black. I think I got them from H&M or New look. I normally wear flip flops or Brikenstocks underneath and an oversized T-shirt with a oversized jumper. I hate tight fit clothes and generally avoid wearing it on flights, driving and when going out for meals. Op can look at linen trousers as well.

DD likes to fly in velour track suit bottoms which are very comfortable. last time I did long haul I wore a cheap copy of an expensive travel outfit I had seen advertised - a loose black jersey dress over black leggings. I was very comfortable and got off the plane looking just as good as when I got on.

Bananajam · 07/05/2022 16:48

I bought these Khaki joggers from Sainsburys, they're slightly smarter than normal and very comfortable.

I fly long haul on Monday and thats the reason I bought them as although I have Hush harems, they seem a bit dated now.

I wore my onesie on the oner from London to Perth and everyone on MN called me disgusting because there would be 'rivers of piss' on the bathroom floor (there wasn't)😁

I was snug as a bug

JemimaPyjamas · 07/05/2022 17:22

I've found these which I love but, typically, they are perfect in every way but the bloody price!

If you like the Seasalt ones, can't you just change into them once you've taken off? I used to travel long haul a lot for work and would change into PJs as soon as the flight took off. Then change back about 2hrs before landing (to avoid the pre landing toilet rush). Obviously i always made sure i was sat well away from my boss for this very reason 😂

JemimaPyjamas · 07/05/2022 18:54

@Sunnyshoeshine if they had my size in stock I'd be tempted but unfortunately they either have a 14, 20 or 22 (I am a 14/16 and don't want to risk the 14 due to possible bloating on the plane.)

I’m flying long haul next week (does little dance). I will be wearing these lightweight joggers from The White Company (thankfully the green was/is at sale price), with a lightweight top and taking a sweatshirt for the chilly times. I’ll have a dress in my hand luggage and change before disembarking.

I'm flying long haul and have got some soft jersey trousers. I couldn't wear pyjamas on a flight.

habibihabibi · 08/05/2022 04:09

Just back from a overnight flight and took a pair of leggings to slip under a shirt dress I wore. Warm, comfortable, small to put in bag and bottom covering.

SD1978 · 08/05/2022 04:29

I friggin love a good what time wear when flying thread. I spend several months trying to perfect the outfit 🤣🤣 daft I know, but I want to look 'nice' on the plane even if no one else gives a crap what I look like!!! I usually go with trousers from somewhere like a hiking store- soft, stretchy, pocket for passport on the side (I'm crap at handbags) and looking for a long length cardigan- but being wee and fat they never seem to hang the right way funnily enough. Shoes that your feet can swell in, and surgical stockings to combat that a bit.

Omg, I love them too but the price!

User7493268965 · 08/05/2022 05:50

16 is there now @JemimaPyjamas so I would probably get them anyway as you like them

JofraArchersFastestBall · 08/05/2022 06:27

Would vertical stripes work? These are very light and comfortable from uniqlo www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-cotton-relaco-34-shorts-446476.html

Lasana · 08/05/2022 06:46

@JemimaPyjamas they are back in stock in a 16 on Sea salt

Rina66 · 08/05/2022 07:55

How about buying a stripe t-shirt and some plain cropped trousers? I've got this in the black and navy, it's very flattering, barely creases and is so comfortable.
