Have to share my tan Nirvana!

I've tried so many fake tons but I hate the faff, the smells, the transfer, the patchiness and sometimes the price if I've been tempted to spend more than £10.

But I've finally found it! I've white, pale, dry skin - for reference. Dove medium to dark DermaSpa summer revived with shimmer. Cheap (half price in Boots) No smell, no streaks, good tone. Shimmer is barely noticeable, skin is not dried up. After 2 applications I am as tanned as bedamned!! Because I used med-dark on pale skin it worked like a light normal tanning lotion.

Can you share your routine for applying? I've never got my head round doing it at a time when it won't stain my work clothes or bed sheets. I imagine I'd have to do it early evening and put on old clothes, but it seems like such a faff.

Absolutely agree! This stuff is brilliant and better than the numerous other fake tans I've used.

I use a tan mitt to apply mine and do it in the evenings.

Shower, dry off, light moisturise over the dry areas (knees, elbows etc) then whack it on with a mitt.

I try and leave it to dry for about 10 mins before getting pjs on and have never had any staining issues.

Aw I'm disappointed - I always open threads promising the solution to my tanning problems, but I've already tried this one and found it no good. I will say the smell wasn't the worst, but the colour was orangey pink rather than tan.

3luckystars · 07/05/2022 10:04

I will give it a go. Thank you!

The best is Lancôme Flash Bronzer, I always come back to it but I will definitely give the Dove a go now! Thanks a lot.

I used to love Flash Bronzer mousse, but isn't it discontinued?

Or do you mean the leg gel? I tried to find that online a while ago and couldn't get it, so assumed that was discontinued as well.

hopeishere · 07/05/2022 10:13

A bondi sands tanning mitt changed my tanning! I use a StTropez one in the brown and white tube. It goes on very dark but is ok after a shower.

I tan before bed (I only bother with my legs really) and then let it dry a bit and then put on long jammie bottoms and go to bed. I have very unabsorbent skin so it would till be damp if i tried putting it on in the morning. It still develops ok.

If I want to do my arms I use the residual stuff on the mitt once I've done my legs and just apply it very lightly.

I've also got Clarins tanning drops for my face. Must start using those now the weather is improving l!

3luckystars · 07/05/2022 10:15

The Lancôme Flash Bronzer Leg Gel is definitely still around, I use it every day. It’s brilliant. I never used the mousse.

LadyEloise10 · 07/05/2022 10:27

I'll try it @L0stinCyberspace
On Sali Hughes glowing recommendation I bought Evolve Sunless Tanner. It wasn't very cheap , it was really thick and hard to rub in and the smell was horrendous so I won't be rebuying it.

barfotoliv · 07/05/2022 10:29

Dove Summer Revived is brilliant! The only tanning product I use. It looks so natural on my light olive skin.

Shower in the morning, dry off, pop on some medical gloves, rub in in in roughly circular swoops. I use my towel to gently rub knees, elbows etc to remove excess from those areas. Get dressed about 2 mins later and that's it.

L0stinCyberspace · 07/05/2022 15:26

@BishyBarnyBee I haven't noticed any transfer after getting dressed after application either.

Does anyone else only get their tan out when Love Island (guilty pleasure) starts? I’m definitely going to try the Dove op! I have a stockpile of st tropez but it’s a faff.

Sodie · 07/05/2022 17:21

It's 3.50 on amazon at that price I will give it a try

WoodenClock · 07/05/2022 17:34

Is this a gradual tanner?

The Palmers is my favourite of the ones I've tried. I think it gives quick enough results and a natural colour. The smell is better than most but there is definitely a smell.

Yes it is a gradual tanner but I found that on my palm skin, using med-dark gives a nice colour after 2 applications. This has a very faint smell, definitely the least of any I've tried.

I have used Dove gradual tanners in the past. I wanted to go a bit darker this year so after chatting to my daughter( fake tan expert) I bought the Isle of Paradise tanning water in dark. It lasts ages and no smell or transference. I moisturise first then spray all over and use mitt to rub in. Develops after 4/6 hours. Put it on after a shower twice this week and am a nice colour. Need to put more on tops of hands though and pay a bit more attention to the whole of my feet! At the very end I just wipe my face with the mitt too.

Try rose and caramel!

Thanks...I was inspired to get out the Clarins tan drops after I read your post but I know I need to find a routine or I'll never keep it up. This is really helpful.

Dundonian · 07/05/2022 23:38

With self-tanning products, I find I get a good, streak-free finish if I keep rubbing it in much longer than recommended; I rub & rub & rub, in all directions, for 3 minutes or so and this method hasn't failed me yet.

I used to like Dove's Summer Glow so I'll give Summer Revived a go. Ta for the tip, OP!

IBelieveInAThingCalledScience · 08/05/2022 20:33

Last year I started using tan drops and will never buy anything else.

I tried most brands and weirdly one here cheapest was the best (isle of paradise from Amazon).

The best part is I get to use my fave body lotion with it and it never stains because the lotion works so well hydrating

LadyEloise1 · 29/05/2023 17:29

Because of this thread I bought the Dove the OP recommended.
It's a good colour on me but as a body logion it takes aaages to dry.
I put it on after my shower in the morning but have to really delay getting dressed.
Would I repurchase ?
Probably not.
